July Best of 25 – Best of Shelley

Best of Shelley

July Best of 25 Collection

I’ll bet you are thinking that I have dropped off the face of the earth. Well, that hasn’t happened but so very much else has! The title of my post on July 17 was The Packing Begins and by the time Ron got home from his trip to Anchorage on the following Friday, I did have my stamp room packed up. The 21st, 22nd, and 23rd were to be packing days for the rest of our things in the school trailer. But our plans always seem to get unplanned wrinkles in them and on Saturday morning Ron was life-flighted to Seattle with heart attack symptoms. After an angiogram, it was determined that he did indeed have a small heart attack. He was released from the hospital on Monday and told we could continue our plans for this trip but he needed to exercise in moderation. We are beginning to learn exactly what moderation looks like and he is doing well but still tires easily.

With Ron out of the picture for packing and leaving Craig, I had all the responsibility to do it all. I had wonderful help from some very good friends who also traveled with me on the ferry to Bellingham as I had two rigs to get down here. We are now settled into our 5th-wheel trailer and I can get back to blogging.

Today I want to share the newest Best of 25 Years stamp set collections. The Best of Shelley collection contains stamps that are favorites of Shelly Gardner, one of the founders and CEO of Stampin’ Up! To order this set, click on the photo above or visit my online store.

The Packing Begins

stamp collection

My stamp collection

A week from today we have to be out of the school trailer with all our ‘stuff’ packed up to take with us on our long road trip or to be put into another storage unit. (All our household goods have been in storage since we sold our house last year.)Unfortunately, this packing up includes my stamping space…sob, sob! I have been mulling over…actually arguing with myself…as to which stamp sets I absolutely must take with me on our road trip and what absolutely needs to go into storage. Neither side has been able to convince the other to give.

Today I was having a conversation with my business coach who suggested I take the negative space rubber (the rubber that is left over when you take the stamps out) out of the cases and put two or three sets into the same case. I ended up putting one stamp set with its negative rubber on one side of the case and another stamp set on the other side. I think the surfaces of the rubber stamps touch each other when the case is closed but they don’t have pressure against each other so I think they will be fine. This allowed me to really condense the amount of space taken up by the stamp cases. Yay! Besides that, when my hubby comes into my stamp room he won’t see as many stamp sets on the shelf and won’t realize that I actually have double that amount…hehehe! I’ll post pictures of what the stamp sets look like in the cases later this week.

In conjunction with us starting our road trip and being on the go, I am excited to bring you the Soggy Stamper Club to Go. This is the perfect stamping club for you if you a. don’t have time to go to a regular stamp club; b. can only find time to stamp after the kids are sleeping; or c. you live in an area where there are few stampers, no demonstrator, and no craft stores. With the Soggy Stamper Club to Go, you place an order through my online store for $35 or more by the 10th of each month. Then I send you a link to a 20-30 minute video of an exclusive class just for my Club to Go members. Check it out with more information here.

Terrific Tuesday – Convention 2013 Photobook Template

Convention 2013 Photobook Template Convention 2013 Photobook Template

I hope you all had a wonderful, safe Memorial Day weekend. I participated in the Prince of Wales Annual Marathon by walking a two mile leg with the Klawalkers, a 15 person team ranging in age from 18 to 83. The weather was perfect and it was fun! I’ll scrap some pictures later this week.

Today is Terrific Tuesday and we have some terrific downloads for you to enjoy. You will definitely want to go check them out and order a couple here. I love the convention photo books because they have so many wonderful elements included in the kits. I choose this pattern of the Convention 2013 Photobook Template because it goes perfectly with our granddaughter’s prom dress. That is all I used for these two scrapbook pages. I just added text and the photos for a beautiful way to highlight these photos. This is a very easy layout for a newbie at digital scrapbooking. If you haven’t taken the plunge yet, go ahead and do it. The MDS software is availble in a disc but why wait? Order the digital version, they are both only $19.95, and start enjoying creativitiy in a new exciting way!

Happy Armed Forces Day!

Armed Services Day digital scrapbook page

Last November I posted this scrapbook page for Veteran’s Day. You can read that post here. Now it is Armed Forces Day, 2013, and I think this scrapbook page is appropriate for this day as well. I am so thankful for the men and women who serve in our armed forces and to their families. May God keep His protective arms around you and bless you for your sacrifices!

Mother’s Day Card using homemade shimmer spritz

Mother's Day cardIf I were not such a procrastinator, this is the card I would have sent my daughters and DIL for Mother's Day. This is one of the five cards we made last Sunday at our Card Buffet. You should have been there!!!

We first used the Delicate Doilies Sizzlit and the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine to cut out a mask from Whisper White card stock. We adhered it to another piece of Whisper White card stock using removable adhesive…shhh…it was the retired Dotto. Then we mixed up homemade shimmer spritz in one of the Stampin' Spritzers. I filled up the spritzer about 3/4 full with rubbing alcohol, added about 15 drops of Calypso Coral refill and maybe 5 drops of the retiring Frost White Shimmer paint. Mix it up well and spray it over the doily mask. Save the mask for another card. I'll show you what we did with it tomorrow. We also sprayed the floral trim flowers with the shimmer spritz to color them. The leaves are the leaves on the Bird Builder punch. The greeting is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set. A bow from gumball green 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon finishes off the card. I wish the camera could pick up all the shimmer.

It is too late to order these supplies to make a Mother's Day card but by changing out the greeting, this would be a beautiful birthday card or thinking of you card. To order the supplies, just click on the item names or visit my online store.

Supplies:

Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes (115370 w, 127802 c)
Card Stock: Gumball Green, Whisper White
Ink: Early Espresso, Calypso Coral refill, Frost White Shimmer Paint (116854) –
Other: Delicate Doilies Sizzlit (126999), Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine (113439), Gumball Green 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon (126848), 5/8" Flower Trim (126869), Stampin' Spritzer (126185)

pssst…the Frost White Shimmer paint is retiring and is 25% off. Buy a supply now while there is still some available so you can make your own shimmer spritz in custom colors!

Finally Spring in SE Alaska – Easter Blossoms Stamp Brush Set

Easter Blossoms digital card

Spring has finally arrived! The last three days have been sunny and the high temps have been in the 60's. Yay and such joy!

The card above has an ariel view of the tulip fields near LaConner, Washington. This is a beautiful sign of spring in that area. (No, I didn't take the photo.)

So that is what spring looks like in the Skagit Valley of Washington. Here is what spring looks like here on Prince of Wales Island in Alaska.

Dandelions
The roadsides, hillsides, and yards are filled with these sunny yellow flowers. The story is told that an early missionary to SE Alaska really missed dandelions so she had a friend send her dandelion seeds to plant in Alaska. What was she thinking?????!!!!! Alaska dandelions are huge! Just look at this clump. I haven't measured the diameter of one of them but I would estimate it is at least 1 1/2" across!

Dandelions 2

For the card, I used the greeting from the Easter Blossoms stamp brush set and the tulip blossom from the Convention 2011 Designer Template. I dropped the opacity of the tulip to 80% and the Convention 2012 Photobook Template – Curvy Frame Label to 60% . The mat around the photo was colored using the color picker to match one of the colors of tulips in the photo. Both of the convention designer templates are currently on sale for 25% off. As you can see, they are not just for creating scrapbooks. They are filled with tons of wonderful things to use for cards and 3-D items as well. Check down at the bottom of the post to see what these two kits include. Then click on the linked item names or visit my online store to order them. Like me, you will get your money's worth out of these templates!

Yes…two posts in one day but this is really urgent! To make room in the new 2013-2014 Annual Catalog, Stampin' Up! is retiring lots of stamps and accessories. I do have a printed copy of the retiring stamp sets which I can send you. The list of retiring accessories is long and supplies in stock will change so quickly that the list would need to be updated daily.

Since these products are only available as long as supply lasts, it is most urgent that you go online, check out the retiring items, and place your order immediately.  I'll be happy to order for you if you email me your order but be sure to give at least two alternative choices for each item because some items will sell out very quickly. Hey…It’s the last day!

Playful Polka Dots
It’s the last day to get the FREE Playful Polka Dots digital download! If you have been procrastinating, go do it now! Click here! Then come back and the rest of this post.

I used Regal Rose card stock for the base of the card. A very interesting thing happened when I tried Rose Red as the background. Check out the card below and see if you see the difference besides the color of the background.

Playful Polka Dots
Yes, the white of the scalloped border looks like a lace border! All of the embellishments on this card are part of the Playful Polka Dots download. I love the cheery colors and patterns. The center of the Pumpkin Pie flower is actually a different flower I shrank in size and layered over the larger one. It was just chance that when I added the two flowers to my work space, they ended up on top of each other. I really liked the effect so kept them that way.

Several have asked how to find the various parts of a digital kit once you have downloaded it. The pieces do get filed into different places depending on what they are. Designer series paper is in a file with the dsp, embellishments are in a different file. The easiest way to see all the parts of the digital kit is to use the global search feature found in the lower left corner of your program. Just type in the name of the kit and you will find all the pieces.

Today is also Terrific Tuesday because we get wonderful new downloads on Tuesdays. Click here to see the new downloads and place your order. Come back tomorrow to see what I do with the new downloads.

Supplies:  MDS digital download (130646), 30-day Free Trial of MDS (130910)
