Stampin’ Up! Craft Scissors Going Bye Bye!

photo of Stampin' Up! craft scissors

Heads up readers! The wonderful Stampin’ Up! Craft Scissors are being retired the end of May! These are really the best scissors for cutting ribbon and I will continue to use them for that purpose. If you don’t have a pair of your own, buy them now while there is still a supply of them!

Here are the current retiring lists (as supplies run out, the list will change):

Saying Goodby to Some Favorites

Retirement list banner

To make room in the warehouse for new stamps and accessories, Stampin’ Up! retires some things each May. The retirement list is out but you must check it often because things sell out often. Yes, there are even some items on sale up to 50% off! Here is a link to the initial retirement list in both pdf and excel form. Print it out, mark your catalog as to what is retiring, what is on sale, and then quickly go to my online store to place your order so you are sure to get those things you have had on your wish list.

Now, my most favorite thing to retire is the Mossy Meadow color. It is one of the 2014-2016 In Colors. I am going to be sure to order another reinker and more cardstock before they are sold out.

Also, remember this darling Easter basket I posted here? Here is another version of it.

White Easter Berry Basket with sponged woodgrain embossing

It is made with the Berry Basket die (137366) which is on the retirement list. All the Bigz L dies are being retired and only thinlits and framelits are being offered in the new catalog. They have actually redesigned the standard Big Shot platform to be slightly raised in the center because many of our Big Shots are getting old and have less pressure in the center. By being slightly raised, the intricate dies will cut perfectly. You can order the supplies used in this project by clicking on the images below.

One last word of caution, all the bundles from the Annual and Occasions catalogs will be retiring so check them out and get the 15% reduced price now!

Easter Berry Basket

I finally ordered the Berry Basket Bigz L die (137366) because I had this great idea for an Easter decoration. The basket is small, 3 7/8″ square and 2 1/2″ high, but it is so stinkin’ cute. Here is my first sample.

Berry Basket created with Botanical Garden Designer Series Paper and Botanical Builder Framelits Dies

Cute? Yes! But I got another idea of using Thick Whisper White cardstock and embossing it with the woodgrain embossing folder. Since I used the thick cardstock, the basket is sturdier. Take a look.

Now this really looks like Easter to me! I love the touch of Lost Lagoon ink I sponged on the raised portions of the basket. The first time I put this basket together, I put the Tear & Tape Adhesive on the strips that go around the top of the basket. Getting things lined up was a little tricky so the second time I put the Tear & Tape on the top edges of the basket part which worked much better.

I filled the basket with crumpled tissue paper and topped it with crumpled thin strips of tissue that I had cut with Stampin’ Up!’s retired Tabletop Paper Cutter.

Aren’t those chicks the cutest?! They are from the Sale-A-Bration freebies stamp set Honeycomb Happiness (wood – 141288, clear – 141291). I stamped 6 images using Smoky Slate ink and fussy cut just around the legs. Then I glued two images together matching the cut out legs together and put a toothpick between the layers. Then finished cutting out the chick. I used the Smoky Slate marker to add a suggestion of the wings and tail feathers on the back of the chick as well. I poked the toothpick through the crumpled tissue paper to make the chicks stand up in the basket.

You can still get this darling stamp set for FREE through the end of March. All you have to do is order $50 in product through my online store. Click on the images below to order the supplies I used for these baskets.

Happy International Women’s Day

Internation Women's Day Logo

Today is a day to honor women world-wide, those who work endlessly at home being the core of the family and those who also work outside the home. The value of a woman is priceless. If she also happens to be a mother, the job is a 24/7 one with little time off even for sickness. If you were to pay a woman for all the various jobs and hours she puts in, her income would be up there with the best paid executives. Unfortunately she doesn’t get paid monetarily well at all.

But…I have a way for women to gain a measure of control over how much they earn. (That is…if they aren’t the boss.) I have an opportunity for women…well…I won’t exclude men either…to earn as much or as little as they want by owning their own paper-crafting business as a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator on my team of demonstrators. Here are some benefits:

  • Freedom to choose your working hours and how much you work
  • Freedom to determine for yourself how much profit you will earn. It depends on how many hours you work and how effectively you use your time.
  • Development of great friendships and relationships with fellow demonstrators and customers.
  • My 15 years experience as a demonstrator and cheerful personality to help you develop your business.
  • Having fun while working
  • And finally, getting a discount on product you purchase and having the opportunity to earn trips with Stampin’ Up!

The investment to get started is just $99 for the Starter Kit and until the end of March, you get to choose and additional $30 worth of product over the standard $125. The beautiful thing about Stampin’ Up! is that they value you as a demonstrator whether you are building a growing business or whether you are a demonstrator who is primarily a hobbyist who love getting a discount on Stampin’ Up!’s wonderful products. It is totally your choice and I am delighted to help you no matter what your goals are. For more information, contact me and/or visit my online store. I’m here to answer your questions.

Happy Dr. Suess Day!

Dr. Suess clip-art of Thing 1 and Thing 2

Today is Dr. Suess Day! When I was learning to read, our easy reading books were Dick and Jane books. Yes, I am that old! When our children were learning to read, Dr. Suess books were very popular and I remember spending wonderful times reading “Go, Dog, Go”, “Hop On Pop” and “Horton Hears a Who” with them. I did a little Googling about Dr. Suess books and found out that his first book, “An to Think I Saw It on Mulberry Street” was written in 1937.

I think they are so popular because of the rhymes and nonsense words found in the books. You know you are a skilled reader when you can read some of his books like “Oh Can You Say” which are filled with tongue-twisters without missing a beat.

I think my favorite book, though, is “Go, Dog, Go!” because of my children’s excitement when they could read it even before starting school.

What is your favorite Dr. Suess book? Leave a comment below.

My New Year Business Resolutions

image of a New Year's Resolution list

Do you make New Year Resolutions? Yes, I know they often are broken even before a week has passed. However, unless you have some resolutions or goals to work towards, you wander around aimlessly. Writing them down is important so the list keeps you coming back to what you set as a goal.

So here are my business resolutions for 2016:

  • Post at least 3 times a week to this blog
  • Post at least daily to Facebook
  • Contact all my customers at least quarterly
  • Actually mail out the cards I make

Now here comes your part. Keep me accountable! Please! Leave a comment on my blog and facebook posts often so I know you are checking up on me. Thank you in advance.

Here’s to a prosperous and happy New Year for all of us.

Last Week!

Link to the Stampin' Up! 2015 retirement lists

This is the last week to order retiring stamp sets and whatever retiring accessories are still left. Click on the image above to see them. It is also the last week to order from the Occasions seasonal catalog. Most of what is in that catalog will also not be available to order.

One of my demo friends compiled a list of the items from the Occasions catalog that have been included in the new 2015-2016 Annual catalog. Occasions Items carried in 2015 If you  are like me and have been wanting some of the items but were holding off until you knew if they would be available in the new catalog, I urge you to purchase them now. Most prices in the new annual catalog have been raised by 5 cents so that an item in the Occasions catalog that was $19.95 will be $20 when the new catalog is active. I want you to be able to take advantage of these savings so order this week!

Also know that the retiring stamp supplies are only guaranteed through May 26, after that they also will be on an ‘as supply lasts’ basis.

Finally, remember that My Digital Studio is being retired. Here is the latest update from Stampin’ Up! regarding the timeline for various parts of MDS being stopped.

We are excited to let you know that all of our MDS items will be included in the upcoming Retired List promotion from April 21-June 2, 2015. Digital downloads, software, and print products will all be discounted by 30 percent and are guaranteed to be available through the end of the promotion (MDS software discs are available while supplies last, where applicable).

Starting next week, Tuesday, April 21, everything in the MDS product line will be available for 30% off. Click the appropriate link below to get a full list of every item and to see the promotional pricing. Lists available in PDF and Excel Spreadsheet formats.

New Dates

To accommodate the Retired List promotion timeline, we have extended the availability date for MyDigitalStudio.net, the digital download manager, and our MDS YouTube, Facebook, and Pinterest pages through midnight (MT), June 9, 2015. Demonstrators and customers may call Demonstrator Support for assistance with MDS until Demonstrator Support closes at 7:00 PM (MT) on Tuesday, June 9. If you need assistance with backing up your digital downloads, we recommend that you visit MyDigitalStudio.net/backup.
Project Life

The Let’s Get Away Digital Project Life Card Collection by Stampin’ Up! from the occasions catalog posted on the ProjectLife.com website yesterday and is currently available for 20 percent off. For the foreseeable future, all Digital Project Life card collections will be made available through the ProjectLife.com store.
Future Updates

While Stampin’ Up! will not sell MDS or any of its associated products after June 2, 2015 or offer support for these products after June 9, 2015, we are working on a solution for you to continue to be able to use your digital downloads and order print products. Stay tuned for updates.
We hope that you enjoy the Retired List promotion—and that the extended deadlines will be helpful to you as we phase out the MDS product line.

Be sure to watch for a blog post this week as to what you need to do to back up your MDS files.

Thanks Veterans!

Veteran's day photo Today our nation stops to remember, honor, and thank our veterans. Words can hardly be enough to repay their sacrifice of time, comfort, often horrible injuries, and often death to protect our freedom. There is more you can do. Here is an article listing ways you can get involved in supporting the members of our military in a variety of ways. http://www.military.com/spouse/military-life/military-resources/how-to-support-our-troops.html

If you are like me, you probably have a stash of cards you have made but never mailed out. What better way to use them than to send them to our troops overseas and in hospitals to encourage them while they are on active duty.

One group I particularly like is From Our Hearts, http://www.fromourhearts.info/. This wonderful group of stampers recognizes the need for military personnel oversea to have access to greeting cards to send back home to their family and friends. There are no Hallmark stores or any of the big box stores that also carry greeting cards. Typically these cards are sent to the chaplain who puts them out in the chapel for anyone to take for free. Sometimes a box of hundreds of cards is gone within two hours so you know the demand is high. Box up those cards and even make a bunch just for this purpose and send them to From Our Hearts. All the information you need is on their website.

Other groups of stampers who send cards that you might consider are:

Now go gather up your stash of cards and share them with those who are sacrificing for our freedom!

New Photopolymer Set – You’re Wonderful

Samples of You're Wonderful Photopolymer Stamp Set from Stampin' Up!Stampin’ Up! has released a new photopolymer stamp set called You’re Wonderful (139158). The samples above were created by Stampin’ Up!’s creative crew. Aren’t they wonderful? Think about all the occasions you can use this stamp set for. With the open design of the images, it is perfect for demonstrating your Blendabilities skills as well. One of the things I really like about this set is that the sayings are curved and sized to fit in the banners around the word ‘wonderful’. And look at the daffodil stamp! I think this is the first time Stampin’ Up! has had a daffodil stamp.

This index shows all the stamps in the setl Click ion the index more details and to order the set. Often times the photopolymer stamps either get sold out quickly or at least go onto backorder soon after they are released. If you like this one, be sure to order it right away so you don’t get disappointed.

Terrific Tuesday – Weekly Deals

What a terrific Tuesday this has been. Here in Mount Vernon we are having beautiful summer weather! There is a light breeze which keeps things not as hot as the thermometer says it is. I got a lot of pruning done yesterday and today which  was desperately needed. Some of the shrubs, the Fall Clematis vine, and the daisies were overgrowing the walks and I needed to prune off the spent roses and the poppy seed pods.

But I digress! Today is a Terrific Tuesday because we have new Weekly Deals! Check them out and then order the ones you want by clicking on the links or visiting my online store. You can also email me with your order and I’ll be happy to place it for you.
