The cool thing about using MDS and digital crafting is that there is instant gratification. I ordered this download this afternoon along with a traditional order. How To Organize Christmas Photos

Stack of PhotosDoes your stack of Christmas photos you took this year look like this? Read more to learn how to organize them and get them in a scrapbook!

  1. Gather all the photos together
  2. Weed out the ones that are out of focus or where the lighting is too dark.
  3. Where there are multiple shots of the same setting (like a family group shot), choose the best one as far as the expressions on the faces. Set the others aside.
  4. Crop out unwanted elements like someone’s hand appearing at the edge of the photo. If you have a photo with the focal point in the center and lots of extraneous things on the sides, you might want to crop the photo down to just the focal image. This would be also important if the focal image is not centered and the bulk of the photo is not needed for telling the story.
  5. Decide if you want the photos displayed chronologically or by family/individual grouping and group them.
  6. Start putting the photos in your scrapbook. You can do traditional scrapbooking with adding embellishments, Project Life by Stampin’ Up! scrapbooking, or scan your photos into your computer if they aren’t already on the computer and do digital scrapbooking. If you choose to do Project Life style, you can put photos that are smaller than the pockets onto cardstock that has been cut to the needed size. You can also add embellishments to the pages and photos when doing Project Life style scrapbooking.
  7. Add journaling to your pages to record the reasons for the photos and the feelings that go with them.
  8. Most importantly…DO IT NOW WHILE YOUR MEMORIES ARE FRESH!

MDSM95 challenge using Candlelight Christmas digital Designer Series PaperHey, it is Terrific Tuesday! I haven’t posted much lately as I have been really busy making Christmas presents. Our family decided this year to make as many presents by hand as possible. Therefore I have been knitting 8 hats, 4 scarves and one pair of fingerless gloves plus umpteen batches of fudge. But I did want to take time out to do this challenge on the MDS Monday blog.

The sketch for this challenge is an easy sketch that takes no time at all.

All I needed to do to highlight the two pictures of our grandkids with Santa is to choose a Christmas designer paper for the background and the strip under the photos. I love the Candlelight Christmas Designer Series Papers (129829) for the rich colors and designs. The physical Candlelight Christmas Designer Series Paper has been retired for several years but it is still available to order as a digital download. But you don’t have to use the dies just for treats. I created a money enclosure using the dies. You pull up on the ribbon to remove a little card with money tucked in it. These are so much fun and so simple to make! I used Santa & Co. Terrific Tuesday – Home for the Holidays

Digital Christmas Card featuring Home for the Holidays EnsembleHome for the Holidays Ensemble digital download  (128885) is one of this week’s Weekly Deals. I created this digital Christmas card so you could see one of the great stamp brushes in this ensemble. Click the link to see what all is included in the download. All I did for this card is to add a square punch resized to 4″ x 5 1/4″, fill it with Very Vanilla Textured card stock, and added the stamp. I added a basic rhinestone recolored with Daffodil Delight to the top of the tree and a Timeless Taffeta Trimmings Real Red bow recolored with Cherry Cobbler. The background is red Glimmer Designer Series Paper (132917).

This card was quick to make and all I need to do is print it out and send it. To make it a hybrid card, I would leave off the rhinestone and bow. After I printed it,, I would trim off the glimmer part and mount the remaining layer on a piece of 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ red glimmer paper. Then mount it on a Very Vanilla card base.

Bloom with Hope

handmade card using the Bloom with Hope stamp set and Blendabilities

Bloom with Hope (wood – 133949, clear – 133952) was the first stamp set I ordered when the 2014-2015 catalog was released. This hostess set  is perfect for coloring with Blendabilities. We have a friend whose 25 year old grandson passed away yesterday so this card is for them. You can order the supplies used for this card by clicking on the images at the end of this post. Contact me to host a workshop to earn the hostess set, Bloom with Hope.

I have a tip to go along with this card. Don’t hold your blendabilities marker over your project or even anywhere near it when pulling off the cap of the marker. Twice now ink has splattered on my work. The last time, I started over on the card but this time I camouflaged the  ink spots by sponging Baked Brown Sugar over the card stock. As is often the case, the fix is better than the original idea! :o)

Friday Tip for Tying Bows

How can it be Friday already??? The weeks just seem to be flying by. I have a really great tip for you today. I have struggled and struggled when tying a ribbon around a card front to keep the knot tight while tying the bow. It usually slips and the ribbon around the card front is too loose. But I got a brilliant idea last Tuesday while tying a ribbon around this card. I placed a glue dot on the card front where I wanted the knot to be and made my first knot. Then I pressed this knot down onto the glue dot. Voila! The knot stayed tight! Then I made the second part of a square knot with no trouble. Such a simple solution. Give it a try.

MDS Monday – Be Yourself Designer Series Paper

Digital Scrapbook Page using the Be Yourself Designer Series Paper and meeting MDSM87 challengeI absolutely love the colors in the Be Yourself designer series papers found in the Be Yourself May Digital Kit (133426)! I have used it often and have in this scrapbook page. This picture of our great-granddaughter jumping in the mud puddle in the alley behind her grandma’s house is so cute I just HAD to use it in a scrapbook page.

The MDS Monday Challenge 87 is to play with changing the size of the patterns of the designer series papers and to insert one photo over several photo boxes.  I often shrink a dsp pattern so more of the pattern shows in a punch but this time the pattern didn’t need to be shrunk because all I was going for was the splashes of color. To put a picture over several photo boxes, select the boxes you want by holding down the shift key and clicking on the boxes. Then group them. Finally drag your picture to the grouping and like magic, each box gets a piece of the photo!
