Sleigh Ride Edgelits Christmas Card

handmade Christmas card using the Sleigh Ride Edgelits and Softly Falling embossing folder

The Sleigh Ride Edgelits (139670) and Jingle All the Way stamp set (wood-139904, clear-139907) ) is one of my favorite bundles (wood -140861, clear-140862) in the new Holiday Catalog. I also love the Softly Falling Textured Embossing Folder (139672) so I combined the three items for this card.

You will be able to order from the Holiday Catalog starting next Tuesday. What? You don’t have a catalog yet? I’d love to send you one. Email me your phone number and best time to call you so we can discuss how you can get this wonderful catalog from me for FREE!

Now on to the details of this card. I used Shimmery White, Gold Foil, and Night of Navy cardstock. To get the background, I inked up the depressed side of the Softly Falling embossing folder, carefully placed my cardstock in the folder without moving it once it touched the ink, and ran it through the Big Shot. I love the look of snow falling from the night sky.

Now get out a piece of paper and make a list of what you want to order come next Tuesday. Don’t forget to contact me if you want a catalog.

Watercolor Wishes

handmade card using the Watercolor Wishes KitThe Watercolor Wishes Card Kit (140406) is a perfect stamping supply to take along when you are traveling. We have been in Craig, Alaska, for two weeks so my dh could fish for salmon and I could visit old stamping customers and my new recruit here. It has been a glorious two weeks with great fishing and wonderful times visiting old friends. Now I am having stamping withdrawal symptoms so I got out the Watercolor Wishes Kit which I had brought along. Everything needed except adhesive is included in the kit including two little ink pads and a stamp set only available with the kit. Of course, I didn’t read through the directions and had not brought adhesive with me. Luckily, I did order the Fine-Tip Glue Pen (138309) on my demo preorder from the Holiday catalog and, luckily, I had it delivered here in Alaska. (BTW, this new adhesive is wonderful!!!! You will have to order some!)

This is the first card I have made with the kit. I followed the suggested layout on the kit directions except I used the Happy Birthday stamp in place of a ‘hello’. I am somewhat of a perfectionist and was not pleased with the fuzzy stamping but decided to use the card anyway. Then I remembered this was the Watercolor Wishes kit and realized that the imprecise stamping was supposed to be that way. :o)

I am planning to use this kit for a Stamp-a-stack in September. The fee is $40 and will include your own kit which makes at least 20 cards and a light lunch. We will start on a Saturday at 10 a.m. and work until 5 p.m. if necessary to make all 20 cards. I will schedule the day in September in consultation with those who have registered and prepaid. I urge you to register as soon as possible as this kit is wildly popular and has been on backorder most of the summer. Contact me is you want to come.

I will be posting a series of posts featuring other cards created with this kit both here on my blog and on my Facebook page so be sure to follow me https://www.facebook.com/TheSoggyStamper.

From the Herd

The stamp set From the Herd makes me giggle each time I see it! I am so happy I bought it because I get such a kick out of it when I use it. I hope the recipients of my cards enjoy it as much as I do. I created this belated birthday card for our son whose birthday is on Sunday. Being an accomplished procrastinator, this is Friday and I just remembered again that his birthday is March 1. I remembered last week but didn’t take the time to make a card then. But…From the Herd is perfect for this card!

handmade birthday card using the From the Herd stamp set and blendabilities markersThe inside of the card says, “hope it was great!” I made a card for a friend last week with this set that says, “just looking in on you…” I left the inside blank and wrote a note of encouragement to her. I colored the images with Blendabilities, the alcohol markers Stampin’ Up! sells. I love them because the inks are more transparent than our Stampin’ Write markers and the inks blend together much easier. I know that I need to work more on my blending but I wanted to share this card even though my blending isn’t perfect. My motto for this year is ‘Get It Done’ so I have to compromise on doing things perfectly. :o)

Unfortunately, Blendabilities are not available right now as there have been some quality issues with the manufacturer. Stampin’ Up! stands behind everything they sell so they have pulled the Blendabilities until the quality issues are cleared up. However, you can purchase any of the other supplies I used for this card by clicking on the images below. I appreciate your business.

Don’t forget that this is Sale-A-Bration time and you get to choose a free item exclusive to the Sale-A-Bration brochure for each $50 of product you purchase through March 31. To make it even more exciting, Stampin’ Up! has added four new free items available March 1 – March 31. Check them out below:
For Being You Sale-A-Bration stamp setThe Thanks in this stamp set is perfect for coloring in with Blendabilities. I like the sweet line of little hearts too!
Screen shot of the In Color Accessory Pack available for free during MarchHave you tried the thick baker’s twine on page 207 in the annual catalog? It comes in the five 2013-2015 In Colors and now it comes in the 2014-2016 Incolors. And…you can get it for FREE. All five colors in one package plus matching buttons!
New Nature's Perfection stamp set for Free during the last month of Sale-A-BrationHere is another new free stamp set that is perfect for coloring with Blendabilities and I think the butterfly can be punched out with the Elegant Butterfly punch.
Finally here is the last new addition. This is a stack of printed 6″ x 6″ vellum sheets. The print is in Basic Gray so the design will show nicely when layered over all colors of card stock and just imagine how beautiful they would be if you colored in the designs with your Blendabilities!

Sale-A-Bration has been around for years but having new product added the last month of Sale-A-Bration is exciting. Place an order with me or through my online store for $50 or more and get one of these great new exclusive products.
Contact me to schedule a workshop during March and get an extra $25 if the workshop sales are $250 or more. That means for a $250 workshop you will receive $65 in hostess dollars to spend on whatever you want. Yay!
Join my team as a demonstrator during March and get your choice of either one of the product kits in the catalogs or your choice of two Sale-A-Bration items like the ones above. Give me a call or email me with your phone number so I can call you. You can also sign up on my demonstrator web site.

For Your Valentine

I have been busy making Valentine treat bags using the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits dies for our grandkids and great-grandkids and got the last of them mailed off so they will arrive in time. I was in such a hurry to get them mailed that I didn’t get a picture of them. That’s the story of my life. :o(

However, I did get a scan of this quick Valentine I made to enclose for one of the parents of our greats.

Quick handstamped Valentine using Sweetheart Punch and Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper StackThis card is so quick to create. I wrapped the strip of designer series paper from the Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper Stack with retired white grosgrain ribbon. The greeting is from the You Plus Me stamp set, stamped on Whisper White with Real Red ink, and punched out with the Sweetheart punch. You can order the stamp set and paper stack as a bundle and save 15%. :o) I added a couple of red glimmer hearts for some bling and the card was done! Click on the image below to order any of the supplies you need to make this card for yourself.

Dear Valentine!

3-D handmade Valentine using You Plus Me stamp set and Stacked with Love paper stackHappy Valentine’s Day to all my readers. I hope your day is filled with love. I’ve had a wonderful time creating a special Valentine for my hubby! The creative spirit really kicked in…yay! Usually I need to make a quick card and don’t spend as much time on it as I have with this one.

I used the Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper Stack (137779), the You Plus Me stamp set (wood – 137133, clear 138594) (wood bundle -138879, clear bundle -138880), and the photopolymer stamp set Snuggles & Smooches (140326) to create this card. The middle greeting is a free digital download from Create with TLC that I printed on Whisper White cardstock and then cut out with a Labels Collection Framelits die (129381). I had to trim part of the top and bottom of the layer off so that the hinge mechanism would work.

I love how so many different Stampin’ Up! products play well with each other. Did you notice that the word LOVE was die cut using one of the banner dies from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Dies (137547) and the ‘you’ was die cut using the Hello You Thinlits Dies (137363)? The frame base for the card was cut with a Sizzix die. This card does fold flat for mailing.

The card is square when folded up so I created my own 5″ square envelope from a piece of Back to Black Designer Series Paper (133700) using the Envelope Punch board. Check it out! It was so quick to make. If you don’t have this tool yet, why not? Tip: Use a light touch with the bone folder when scoring designer series paper! It has a tendancy to split if you score too hard. I used some retired Washi tape to cover the splits. :o) It does add an element of design to the envelope.

The supplies I used that come from Stampin’ Up! are listed below. Click on them for more details and to order the ones you need.

Charlie Chaplin punch art

Charlie Chapman punch art using Bow Builder PunchThese little bows made with the Bow Builder Punch (137414) are so darn cute! Our son-in-law has adopted the bow tie as his trademark and recently added a bowler hat to his trademark. This bow reminds me of Joe’s bow ties so I just HAD to come up with this punch art dapper man. He looks like Charlie Chaplin but that wasn’t my original plan. Go ahead….laugh! I know the eyes and nose are funky.

To create this man, I used the third from the smallest Ovals Collection Framelits for the head. I cut out the top of the hat with just one end of the same framelit and straightened the sides slightly. The brim was punched with the Word Window punch. The nose is the wing of the Bird Builder Punch and I used the Fringe Scissors to make his moustache. I sponged a little Blushing Bride ink on his nose, cheeks, and chin to warm up his skin. So there you have it…Charlie Chaplin! I’m sure you can make him a little more artistic and less funky. Click on the items below to order any of the supplies I used.

Sneak Peek – Mini Treat Bag Thinlits

Mini Treat Bag Money enclosureWhat do you do when you want to play with your new toys from your preorder but have to stay focused on Christmas? You find a way to use them for Christmas presents! These Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Dies are in the new Occasions catalog and you can buy them beginning Jan 6.

But you don’t have to use the dies just for treats. I created a money enclosure using the dies. You pull up on the ribbon to remove a little card with money tucked in it. These are so much fun and so simple to make! I used Santa & Co. Designer Series Paper (135821), the Merry Everything stamp set (wood – 135068, clear – 135071), the Note Tag Punch (135860) and the Deco Labels Collection Framelits (130102) to make this project. What is even better is that the Merry Everything stamp set and the Note Tag Punch are in a bundle for 15% off!

Click on the images below for more information and to order these supplies. It is getting close to Christmas, but if you order these now before the end of the Holiday catalog sales period, you will have them ready for next Christmas creating.

Terrific Tuesday – Home for the Holidays

Digital Christmas Card featuring Home for the Holidays EnsembleHome for the Holidays Ensemble digital download  (128885) is one of this week’s Weekly Deals. I created this digital Christmas card so you could see one of the great stamp brushes in this ensemble. Click the link to see what all is included in the download. All I did for this card is to add a square punch resized to 4″ x 5 1/4″, fill it with Very Vanilla Textured card stock, and added the stamp. I added a basic rhinestone recolored with Daffodil Delight to the top of the tree and a Timeless Taffeta Trimmings Real Red bow recolored with Cherry Cobbler. The background is red Glimmer Designer Series Paper (132917).

This card was quick to make and all I need to do is print it out and send it. To make it a hybrid card, I would leave off the rhinestone and bow. After I printed it,, I would trim off the glimmer part and mount the remaining layer on a piece of 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ red glimmer paper. Then mount it on a Very Vanilla card base.

Bloom with Hope

handmade card using the Bloom with Hope stamp set and Blendabilities

Bloom with Hope (wood – 133949, clear – 133952) was the first stamp set I ordered when the 2014-2015 catalog was released. This hostess set  is perfect for coloring with Blendabilities. We have a friend whose 25 year old grandson passed away yesterday so this card is for them. You can order the supplies used for this card by clicking on the images at the end of this post. Contact me to host a workshop to earn the hostess set, Bloom with Hope.

I have a tip to go along with this card. Don’t hold your blendabilities marker over your project or even anywhere near it when pulling off the cap of the marker. Twice now ink has splattered on my work. The last time, I started over on the card but this time I camouflaged the  ink spots by sponging Baked Brown Sugar over the card stock. As is often the case, the fix is better than the original idea! :o)

Stampin’ Up!’s Online Extravaganza starts tomorrow! Have you checked out all the great deals and made a shopping list yet? Remember that there are some great Door Busters tomorrow. Check out my Friday post to see what I am talking about and to see my own Soggy Stamper Black Week specials. This link allows you to download a PDF listing the specials.Online_Extravaganza_Products_US. Let the shopping begin!

Ornamental Pine Meets Northern Flurry

Handmade Christmas card using Ornamental Pine stamp set and Northern Flurry Tea Light HolderIf you had come to my class last Tuesday, you would have learned how to make this beautiful vellum tea light holder and matching Christmas card.

We cut card stock vellum with the Curvy Keepsake Box Thinlits Dies (135853). Then we dry embossed the pieces with the Northern Flurry Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (120902) and the Big Shot. We curled the pieces slightly with bone folders.

Next we stamped the pine cone from the Ornamental Pine stamp set (wood – 135104, clear – 135107) twice on Whisper White card stock with Soft Suede Suede ink and cut them out. Dazzling Details (124117) was applied to the white areas of the pine cones and then they were cut out. A little Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755) was used to attach them to a short piece of Linen Thread (104199) and attached to just one side of the overlapping flaps of the box.

A bow of Lost Lagoon 3/8″ Silky Taffeta Ribbon (135841) was attached on top with a glue dot. We placed a flameless tea light inside. I love the soft glow of the tea light through the vellum and the embossed area gives a lacy look to the box. See other Curvy Keepsake Boxes I have created here and here.

To go along with the tea light holder we created a Christmas card with a vellum overlay. The overlay was embossed with the Northern Flurry embossing folder and applied to the Soft Sky card base with SNAIL adhesive along the top edge. A length of the Lost Lagoon ribbon was tied around the card front to cover where the vellum was attached. The pine bough was stamped on the Soft Sky card base in the lower right corner. We used the Noel framelit from the Wondrous Wreath Framelits Dies (135851) to cut out the word from Gold Glimmer paper (133719) and glued it to the vellum layer with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

Do you need the supplies for these projects or are you running out of some of your other supplies? Just click on the links above or on the pictures below to go to my online store to order them. I appreciate your business! :o)
