My Digital Studio Monday – Baby in Moon page

Baby Page-001

Our theme on Utah Divas International this week is a baby card or page. I got this idea of putting a baby photo into a moon punch. Moon punch you ask? I didn't know there was a moon punch in My Digital Studio. Well, you are right. I took the solid moon stamp from Nursery Necessities and transformed it into a punch using the Inkscape program. Then I filled the punch with a photo of our great-granddaughter. The star is also a punch filled with Rock-a-bye Designer Series paper – So Saffron Large Polka-dot. There is a discussion thread on mydigitalstudio.net about how to convert a stamp into a punch. Click here for the link. By the way, if you haven't visited mydigitalstudio.net yet, you are missing out on a wealth of information.

Thanks for coming by to visit today. If you try your hand at creating your own punches, I'd love for you to send me a copy of your creation and I'll share it on this blog. Do come back tomorrow to see the new downloads Stampin' Up! releases this week.

Until your next visit…..blessings,

My Digital Studio – MDS Monday

Camping the Easy Way-001
First, Happy Labor Day! I hope you are having a safe and good time with family and friends. Our theme for today is Labor Day but I drew a complete blank on what to create for that theme. I know many are taking this last weekend of summer to go camping so I thought I would do a camping theme scrapbook page.

When we were young and first married, we enjoyed camping out with a tent and campfire. As we have aged, we have come to enjoy our creature comforts so much that we don't want to give them up even for a weekend. So we have graduated over the years to a 5th wheel trailer so we can 'camp' in comfort. This is a picture of our current truck and trailer the day we became proud owners of it. Eight years later the trailer is still serving us well.

I used stamps from Under the Stars Stamp Brush Set and Happy Camper Stamp Brush Set for this 8" x 8" scrapbook page. The background is from Green Tea Designer Series Paper. To order the supplies to create a scrapbook page using your own photos, just click on the items to be taken to my online store.

Now it is your turn to share how and where you like to go camping by leaving a comment!

Supplies:

Green Tea Designer Series Paper (125769)
Happy Camper (126033)

Until the next time you visit….

My Digital Studio Monday – Favorite Technique

MDS Monday 8-29-11-001

Our theme today is to share our favorite technique. This was a hard assignment for me because whatever technique I am using at the time is my favorite. However, I decided to share the technique of making a photo as the background of a picture. Another technique I used on this 8 x 8 scrapbook page was using the color picker to choose one of the sunset colors to fill in the Simple Letters Punch I used for the title of this page.

I am blessed to have a beautiful water view here on Prince of Wales Island in SE Alaska and the sunsets are so glorious. I love taking pictures of them! Using My Digital Studio makes it so easy and quick to incorporate those pictures into a scrapbook page. I would love to help you enjoy the fun of using My Digital Studio to preserve your digital photos. Click here to order your copy of the program. I hold My Digital Studio classes on the third Thursday of each month. Contact me if you are interested in more details. As always, my online store is open 24/7. You can order in the middle of the night in your jammies when you can't sleep…LOL! Just click on the items below to be taken to my online store.

My Digital Studio Mondays – Smitten Alphabet Punch

MDS Monday 8-22-11-001 copy
Our design team assignment this week was to create a card or scrapbook page using ribbon or a bow. I chose to use a technique we learned at convention to make a pleated ribbon. I also used the new My Digital Studio download from last Tuesday called Smitten Alphabet Punch. I really like the font and being able to not only size it as desired but also fill it with designer series paper if I want, makes this alphabet punch really useful. The girl in the photo is my youngest granddaughter. I knitted the scarf she is modeling. I just love the softness of this picture!

If you would like to make a similar page to feature one of your treasured photos but need some of the supplies I used, just click on the links to be taken to my online store. The beauty of digital scrapbooking is that you can purchase a download and have it on your computer and ready to use in a matter of minutes.

I have filmed a video showing how to make this pleated ribbon which I plan to share later this week. So do come back to visit again soon.

Supplies: My Digital Studio (118108)

My Digital Studio – Terrific Tuesdays

Smitten Alphabet Punch 8x8 pg-001
I am sharing two 8" x 8" scrapbook pages using the new Smitten Alphabet Punch digital download for My Digital Studio that was released today. You can see the new downloads here, then go to my online store to purchase them. You will also see the new downloads featured on the right side of my store's front page.

The first scrapbook page features the designer template that comes with the alphabet. All you have to do is drop a photo into the photo box and you can be done. However, I always seem to want to change things a bit. I felt the word 'always' did not show up well when it was white so I canged the color to Melon Mambo.

Smitten Alphabet Punch 8x8 pg-002

This second page is my own creation. I started with a background of Island Indigo. I filled the letters with Regal Rose small dotted designer series paper. The Perfect Label punch is also filled with the Regal Rose small dotted designer series paper. Since the width of the letters is so narrow, not many dots showed up.

Now here is a tip: After you fill a punch with designer series paper, double click on the punch. In the window that comes up, there are a couple of small magnifying glasses on the left-hand side. Click on the negative one and you can shrink the scale of the designer series paper print.

I clicked the negative six times until I was satisfied with the number of dots that showed up. If you double click on the picture of the sb page, you will get the full-size picture. Then you will be able to see the dotted pattern better in the letters.

Supplies: My Digital Studio (118108)
Other: Smitten Alphabet Punch (127425)
            Perfect Label Punch (127340)
FreeStyle Script Font size 30 ( on my computer)

Thanks for coming by to visit today. Don't forget to look up the new downloads and order them so you can begin creating with them.

Until next time….blessings,

Happy 4th of July from My Digital Studio Monday

MDS Monday 7-4-11-001
Happy 4th of July! I hope the weather in your locale is as beautiful as it is supposed to be here. We are spending the day with our older daughter and son-in-law. My husband requested fried chicken, potato salad, and watermelon…a traditional July 4th meal from his childhood. Our SIL grew up with barbecued chicken so we are going with that along with macaroni salad, potato salad, and watermelon.

One 4th of July, we were visiting friends in Idaho and went with them to the town's fireworks display. These pictures of the fireworks were taken with my I-phone. I am really surprised how well they turned out. I used the My Digital Studio download Land of the Free Stamp Brush Set (126040). I put a square punch filled with Night of Navy behind the field of stars and stretched square punches filled with Cherry Cobbler for the red stripes. Click on the item numbers to order them and create this scrapbook page for yourself.

Sand and Surf on Waikiki Beach-001
Don't these pictures just scream summer? They were actually taken a couple years ago on our Hawaiian vacation. I wish I were some of those bathing beauties on Waikiki Beach…LOL! I really enjoy creating with My Digital Studio. It has been a lifesaver for me on our 2 month trip in our 5th wheel trailer. I did bring along hand-stamping supplies but find the computer and the wealth of supplies at my fingertips with My Digital Studio so much easier to use. There is nothing to have to pull out of storage and then put back. On this scrapbook page, I needed/wanted surf boards but didn't already have some in the program. I just zipped over to the Stampin' Up! website, ordered the Summer Splash Stamp Brush Set, downloaded it and was able to play with it in a matter of minutes. It is soooooo convenient!!! If you don't have your own copy of My Digital Studio, what are you waiting for? Click here to order the full program through my online store. My Digital Studio Monday Salutes Grandfathers

MDS Monday 6-13-11-001
The theme for Utah Divas International's My Digital Studio Monday is grandfathers this week. Last Christmas we had the pleasure of having four generations of Ericksons/Johnsons together to celebrate. In the photo, the man in the right front is my husband called Grandpa by both grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Our so-in-law is in the back row on the left and is called Pawpaw by his grandchildren.

I used the new Simple Letters Punch digital download and filled the letters with a color picked from the colors in the photo corners that were filled with one of the patterns from the Nautical Expedition digital designer paper. Hint: When you use the color picker to get a color for multiple punches like the letters, save the color in 'favorites'. Then you won't have to worry about picking the exact same color each time.

If your grandfather is still living on this Father's Day, be sure to give him extra hugs, let him know how much you treasure him. Spend time visiting with him about when he was a child and write his memories down. Now that my father has passed away, there are so many questions I wish I had asked him while he was living.

Thanks for coming by to visit today. I offer you a virtual cup of coffee….no…..this is summer and it's probably hot! I offer you a nice cool drink of virtual ice tea or lemonade to sip while you browse my blog.

As usual, if you need any of the supplies I used for this scrapbook page, contact your Stampin' Up! demonstrator or just click on the item number to purchase them from me.

Things I Love…About You!

Things I Love copy The Things I Love pg 2

Tomorrow I have a Valentine themed workshop and plan to have the stampers make this two-page 6" x 6" layout as well as a card. I have been thinking about the things I love about my hubby and thought this would make a great theme for a scrapbook page. The layout and stamping is quick and simple so that the photo and journaling will be the center of attention on the page. I love the way the Framed Tulip embossing folder worked in this layout. I lightly sponged the raised part of the embossing with Soft Suede ink to give it some depth and aging.

Now I need you to help me out. What do you love about someone important in your life? Tell us in a comment. If you decide to make your own version of this layout, email it to me and I will be delighted to share it here for all to enjoy.

Happy Stamping,

Sue
