Gingham Garden Happy Birthday

Gingham Garden Digital DSP

This week’s digital downloads for MDS are all so great that I had a hard time choosing which to order. Did you see them? Check them out here. I was delighted that the Gingham Garden Designer Series Paper is now available in digital form for us digi girls. The great thing about digital dsp is that you will have an unlimited supply of your favorite designs. And how about the wonderful About to Bloom August Kit that coordinates with the FREE August wallpaper. There are so many gorgeous flowers in that kit!

This card was quickly created with the Gingham Garden Designer Series Paper pattern 10, the 1.25 square punch stretched to 4.805 inches wide and 3.598 inches high, and the Birthday Candles stamp brush set which is also a new download this week. The greeting is from the Little Milestone Birthdays Greeting Cards Template Set. I used the coloring tool on the birthday candles to color the flames a different color than the candles.

Supplies:

MDS software digital download (130646), MDS software disc (130647), or 30-day Free Trial of MDS (130910)

So Sorry SUDSOL convention swap

So Sorry and Best of Flowers card

Over the next few days I will be sharing some of the swap cards I received at the Stampin’ Up! convention. I participated in one organized swap and swapped out 75 other card fronts I had made for general swapping. This card is the one I  made for the organized swap. I love hydrangeas and was excited to get back the hydrangea stamp that retired a couple of years ago as part of the Best of Flowers stamp set. The smaller size makes it just right for this card.

I used markers to color the image directly on the stamp set then remoistened the ink by ‘huffing’ on the stamp before stamping it on the card stock. I love the Elegant Butterfly and the Bitty Butterfly punches and punching them out from the Champagne Glimmer paper adds a special touch of sparkle to this card.

Another hint I have for you is to stamp your greeting on an angle like I did in the lower corner. That way, you don’t have to worry about getting the stamp straight with the edges of the card. Stamping the greeting on an angle really speeds things up when you are stamping 48 of the same card. :o)

Best of Flowers index

Reminder – The single stamps offer expires July 31! This is a great opportunity to buy just one stamp that suits your fancy instead of having to buy a whole set just for the one stamp you like. Terrific Tuesday – Soho Subway

Subway Soho DSP Digital Card

Yeah, I know…it isn’t Tuesday any longer. On Tuesday I was sitting in a hospital room with Ron waiting and hoping the doctor would come say Ron could go home. It wasn’t until Wednesday that he got released. Then we had to move the trailer to a new RV park that is closer to Seattle and also get my car out of storage. Yesterday was spent with doctor appointments so today is the first day to relax and get back to blogging. You can see ad order this week’s downloads here.

I have resisted buying the Soho Subway dsp from the catalog because I always end up with lots of paper left over. I guess I hoard it, just maybe??? LOL! It is one of the new downloads from last Tuesday and I jumped on the opportunity to have a digital version of the paper.

This card is not my usual style. I was surfing through my punches and saw the arrow punches. The idea for this card suddenly popped into my head and here it is. I had fun choosing the different patterns of the Soho Subway Designer Series Paper. I just can’t have a plain card stock background so I added the Natural Composition Overlays – 11 in Basic Gray with a 40% opacity for texture. I love the various designs of the Soho Subway Designer Series Paper and think I will order it during Stampin’ Up!’s buy 3 get one free promotion. The promotion has only five more days to go. Order your favorites now!

MDS software digital download (130646), MDS software disc (130647), or 30-day Free Trial of MDS (130910)

Stamps – Natural Composition Overlays (130855)

Innovation is Good

The Stampin’ Up! 25 year celebration at convention is over and almost 7000 demonstrators are now headed home. Rich Judkins, the president and COO of Stampin’ Up! spoke at the closing ceremony about how very important it is to be innovative and how to learn to be that way. Now that I am no longer physically in Craig to be with my card exchange group, we have to be innovative in the way we connect.

Last Wednesday, I was in Pocatello, Idaho, on my way to convention in Salt Lake City. The stampers were meeting in Craig. I had already prepared kits with the card stock all cut and directions for the project. I called Dina on facetime and had a wonderfully fun evening helping them with the project from a lawn chair. Check out these photos.

It is the first time I have taught a workshop remotely. We made this card.

Wildflower Meadow Bundle card

I love this sample using the Wildflower Meadow embossing folder and the coordinating stamp! I made it as one of my convention samples as well. The Pacific Point blue, Whisper White, and Daffodil Delight yellow make such a crisp and clean color combination. Have you purchased the Wildflower Meadow bundle yet? By purchasing the bundle, you save 15% so go order it here.

Supplies:

Wildflower Meadow Bundle (132985-c, 132735-w), Label Love stamp set (130619-w, 130622-c}, Artisan Label Punch (130920), Pacific Point card stock, Daffodil Delight card stock, Whisper White card stock, Whisper White Craft Stampin’ Ink Pad (101731)

Cupcake Punch Birthday Card

Create a Cupcake Punch Birthday CardThe Cupcake punch was perfect for making a birthday card for one of our great-granddaughters. To fussy it up a little and make it girly, I embossed the edge with one of the Delicate Designs embossing folders. A strip of 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon in Gumball Green finishes off the card. Order the supplies to make this card by clicking on the linked supplies below or by visiting my online store.

I leave in the morning from Pocatello, Idaho, to go to convention in Salt Lake City. We discovered taking the bus was much less expensive than Ron driving me down and then driving all the way back and it is a whole lot less driving for him. My bus leaves at 6:35 im the morning. All my swap cards are done and my suitcase is packed. I’ll try to post a couple of times from convention.

Supplies:

Stamps: Whacky Wishes (retired, sorry)

Paper: Pool Party, Pretty in Pink, Daffodil Delight, and Whisper White card stock, scraps of designer series paper

Ink: Gumball Green Classic Ink Pad (126861)

Other: Cupcake punch (121807), Delicate Designs embossing folder (127023), Gumball Green 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon (126848)

Terrific Tuesday – Modern Medley Overlays

Modern Medley Ovrlays card for convention

It’s Terrific Tuesday again and Stampin’ Up! has new digital downloads for us today that are all images from the new 2013-2014 catalog. View and order your favorites here. I have not decided which ones I want to order yet. Instead, I want to share this MDS hybrid card I am swapping at convention.

As you may be guessing by now, I love overlays because they can be used to create an infinite number of backgrounds. Last weekI used the Modern Medley Overlays Kit to create a faux embossed background using the birds design. This week, I chose the flower overlay and changed the color to Whisper White. The Basic Black Timeless Taffeta Trimmings Medium Bow appeared a dark gray when I applied it so I recolored it with Basic Black and came up with the exact color I wanted. I printed out four card fronts to a sheet on Whisper White card stock, cut them apart, and mounted them on the yummy Pistachio Pudding card stock. If you like this card and are at convention this week, look me up and I’ll be happy to swap with you.

Supplies:

MDS software digital download (130646), MDS software disc (130647), or 30-day Free Trial of MDS (130910)

Modern Medley Overlays Kit (134839), Timeless Taffeta Trimmings – medium bow recolored (131329), Get It Done Kit punch 2 (129924)

Pistachio Pudding card stock (131294)

Terrific Tuesday – Modern Medley Overlays

Modern Medley Overlays

What new downloads did you choose to order today? I ordered the Modern Medley Overlays Kit and the Chalk Talk Stamp Brush Set. I have ordered the traditional Chalk Talk stamp set but thought it would be much quicker to print them out with MDS and cut them with the corresponding framelits when making numerous tags.

I ordered the Modern Medley Overlays because I love using overlays to create faux embossing on my backgrounds. The card above shows what the birds overlay looks like when you color it the same as the card stock and the apply a drop shadow. I played around with several different colors of drop shadow but came back to using the default black. Give faux embossing a try. It is easy and this set of overlays is perfect for it.

Fifty Nifty Digital Kit and Modern Medley Overlays

When someone goes on a trip like we are taking, it is appropriate to send postcards to our family and friends. So I created this postcard for you. I used the Fifty Nifty Kit for the Oregon punch and filled it with Delight in the Day designer series paper – 1. I added another of the Modern Medley Overlays to the background and reduced the opacity to just 20%. Again, it looks almost like dry embossing. Come back tomorrow to see where we will spend tomorrow night!

Supplies:

MDS software digital download (130646), MDS software disc (130647), or 30-day Free Trial of MDS (130910)

Modern Medley Overlays Kit (134839), Chalk Talk Stamp Brush Set (134800), Fifty Nifty Kit (130059), Delight in the Day Photobook Template (127758)

You Missed the Fun!

If you weren’t at our card exchange club last night you missed out on a lot of fun. Hubby is out of town and I can think of no better way to spend an evening than spending time with my stamping ladies creating gorgeous cards, laughing, and having fun. This is the card you missed out on creating.

The Open Sea stamp set

One of the new toys…err…tools I purchased this month is the Circles Collection Framelits. I was hoping they would take the place of all my circle punches thus saving me space in our travel trailer. However, the only one that duplicates a punch if the 1″ diameter one. The rest complement the circle punches. Here are the measurements of the circle framelits: 5/8″, 1″, 1-1/2″, 1-7/8″, 2-3/8″, 2-3/4″ 3-3/16″, 3-5/8″, 4″, 4-3/4″ which is the scalloped one. My dear, sweet husband said, ” Take the punches also. You will be really frustrated when you need that particular size and it is in storage.” Thank you, dear!!!

This tomorrow is the Blessing of the Fleet, an annual tradition in fishing communities. I thought The Open Sea was a particularly fitting stamp to use last night. Sail boats and sailing vessels like this have a romantic aura for me but I also know they are a lot of work!

Did you know that you can stamp on and color the cotton ribbon? I felt the natural color of the ribbon would be too light for this card so I used a sponge dauber to sponge Baked Brown Sugar ink on it.

Thanks for coming to visit me today. As always, order the supplies needed to make this card by visiting my online store or by clicking on the hyperlinked names of the supplies.

Supplies:

Stamps – The Open Sea (128454w, 123032c), Express Yourself (130336w, 130339c) hostess set

Ink – Night of Navy, Gumball Green, Baked Brown Sugar

Terrific Tuesday – Everybody’s Business DSP

Everybody's Business DSP digital download

Yep…it is a Terrific Tuesday and I have a terrific card to share with you using the new Everybody’s Business DSP download. I particularly like this new download because each pattern of dsp not only has a colored version but also a grayscale version for you to color. I love using the recoloring feature of MDS! In this card I recolored the dsp with Crisp Cantaloupe and the Whisper White grosgrain ribbon with Cajun Craze. (You have to usually go much darker when recoloring ribbon to get the right shade, so play with different options.) As usual, I thought the Soft Sky card base looked a little flat so I added the overlay stamp from the Because I’m The Dad Greeting Card Template and recolored it Soft Sky. By adding a drop shadow to the overlay, I got just the effect I wanted, just a hint of texture. Go here to see and purchase today’s new downloads.

Supplies:

MDS software disc (130647), MDS software digital download (130646) or MDS 30-day Free Trial (130910)

Stamp Brush Sets:  Because I’m The Dad Greeting Card Template (134685) – overlay, Holiday Blitz – thanks

Paper: Soft Sky background, Everybody’s Business DSP (133499) – 7 (grayscale colored Crisp Cantaloupe)

Quick Card Using Mosaic Madness

Mosaic Madness card

I needed a quick card to contact our yard maintenance man so whipped up this one using the new Mosaic Madness stamp set and the new Mosaic punch. My original concept was to just have the diagonal line of mosaics but the card looked a little ‘blah’. So I added the border stamp  diagonally across the corners. I am pleased with the results. Of course, I have no Spanish stamps so had to hand write the greeting. Can you name the two new colors I used? Leave a comment below with your answer.

Supplies:

Stamp set: Mosaic Madness (130249 – c, 130246 – w)

Inks: Bermuda Bay Classic Stampin’ Pad (131171), Baked Brown Sugar Classic Stampin’ Pad (131174), Marina Mist Stampin’ Write Marker (119679)

Paper: Crumb Cake and Whisper White card stock

Other: Mosaic Punch (131267)

French Foliage Good Bye…Sob!

French Foliage

The stamp set I am saddest to see retire is French Foliage. It is a wonderful set and is versitile. I used one of the leaves with the bleach technique to create the card above. In real life, there is a golden shimmer as well because I sprayed Gold Smooch Spritz on the paper towel that had bleach on it. Someone gave this technique the name ‘Blemooch’. :o) The Gold Glow Smooch Spritz is also retiring. The retiring accessories are available only as long as supplies last and many have already sold out. This is the last week to order retiring items. Don’t wait for the last minute…check out the retiring lists here and order those items you have been eying before they are gone forever! So what Stampin’ Up! product are you going to miss the most? Leave a comment below.

Happy Plant a Flower Day! Yep…today is Plant a Flower Day and boy do we need flowers here in SE Alaska. Last week was sunny and you could feel spring in the air. This week we are having snow showers…go figure! Typical SE Alaska spring weather.

So what kind of flower would you plant? I love hydrangeas and would plant one of those if we weren't in temporary housing. Instead, I created this card with the hydrangea from the Best of Flowers stamp collection. This is Stampin' Up!'s 25 year anniversary and they have gone into their stamp vaults and brought out the best stamps in each category to create an anniversary stamp set. Each month they offer us a new set and in that set is a stamp that has never been seen before. Click here to see the sets released so far.

The Open Sea

Brian's BD card front 2-13 Brian's BD card inside 2-13

In last night's blog post I shared these pictures of this Pop 'n Cut card and talked about the wonders of the Dress Form Pop 'n Cuts and Card Base Pop 'n Cuts dies. Today I want to focus on the stamp set The Open Sea (w-123030, c-123032).

I like this set for several reasons. First, I live on an island in SE Alaska and boats, ships, and ferries are our way of life. There is something very romantic about sailing ships and they speak of adventure.

I love the vintage look of this stamp set as well. Stamp in in Crumb Cake, Basic Grey, or one of our wonderful blue inks. I stamped the compass with Pacific Point ink but stamping it with one of the red inks would also be very vintage.

Finally, I love the versatility of The Open Sea stamp set. It could be used on a Bon Voyage card, on travel scrapbook pages, or for a masculine birthday card like this one. Check out the different images in the index below and then click on the links above to order the set. While you are in my online store, remember to order stamping supplies you are running low on. I appreciater your business.

I am so excited to share this card with you! The Dress Form Die and the Card Base Pop 'n Cut die have so much potential. I needed to make a birthday card for my son and had not used this wonderful and romantic The Open Sea stamp set yet. Actually, I have had my eye on it ever since the 2012-2013 catalog came out but just hadn't purchased it until last month. The ribbon is from the Sycamore Street Ribbon and Button Pack (130812) which you can get for FREE with a $50 purchase during Sale-A-Bration.

Have I convinced you that the Dress Form die and the Pop 'n Cuts die are well worth the price because they open a whole new area of creativity for you? Sale-a-Brate with Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper

Sycamore Street Thank YouWhat is Sale-a-Bration, you ask? It is the time of year when Stampin' Up! celebrates with an astonishing offer! From January 22 through March 22, you get to choose exclusive product for free for each $50 you spend. I have used two of those free products on this card.

The designer series paper is one of the patterns in the pack of the Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper (127540). The butterfly stamp is included in the Bloomin' Marvelous Stamp Set (w-129651, c-129654). What is especially exciting is that this little stamp fits perfectly in the Bitty Butterfly Punch (129406) which can be found in the Spring Catalog. I layered the little butterfly onto the larger butterfly which was punched from Island Indigo card stock with the Elegant Butterfly Punch (127526). I stamped the greeting found in the Perfectly Penned Stamp Set (w-122890, c-122892) onto Whisper White card stock with Calypso Coral ink and cut it out with one of the Window Frames Collection Framelits (129021).

There are so many wonderful FREE items to choose from in the Sale-a-bration brochure (see images below) that you will want to come back again and again to purchase $50 worth of product before March 22 so you can collect many of them. They will not be available after March 22. OR…you can place an order for $100 of product and choose 2 items, or place an order for $150 and choose 3 items and choose $25 worth of hostess benefits.
