My Digital Studio Monday – Fall card

MDS Monday 9-26-11-002 copy
Our assignment as the design team for My Digital Studio Monday on Utah Divas International was to create a card or scrapbook page in honor of the official beginning of Fall. I used elements from the designer kit, Grateful Hearts Thanksgiving, to create this card. I added pumpkins from the Holiday Blitz stamp brush set and the Swirling Leaves from the Torn Edges stamp brush set. The letters of the word Fall came from the Grateful Hearts Thanksgiving as well as the phrases. I used a text frame for the word 'brings' and searched through the fonts on my computer to find one as close as possible to the font used for the phrases. The 'leaves' blowing off the tree branches are actually called berries but they work as leaves for me. :o) As always, you can click on the linked product name to order them from my online store.

My husband is an avid football watcher and the sound of football games either in a stadium or on TV bring back great memories of my marching band and football games in high school…and the often frosty nights. What is your favorite aspect of Fall? Share it with us by posting a comment.

My Digital Studio – Terrific Tuesday

Grunge card-001 copy

Well…it is still Tuesday in Alaska…barely! I had to wait until NCIS was over to finish this project since it was the first episode of the new season. Here is the link to the new My Digital Studio downloads released today. They are shown on the right hand side of my storefront. Just click on each one to see a larger picture, a description of the download, and to order them. I didn't download any of them today. Instead, I downloaded the Downtown Grunge Photobook Template. It has a wonderful crumpled paper and a couple other great designer papers. I have been eying the wrinkled paper for quite a while. It reminds me so much of antique paper that I created this card using the Open Seas Stamp Brush Set, the wrinkled paper and Vintage Overlay Stamp Brush Set. I hope you like it.

Supplies:

My Digital Studio – Terrific Tuesdays

Today, I started back to work at school so posting for Terrific Tuesdays will have to be later in the day than I would like. I am doing well just to get the time before school to see what the new My Digital Studio downloads are and don't have time to do any creating with them. However…here is what I created with the new Kindness Matters Stamp Brush Set.
New download 8-30-11-001 copy

I love the font of the sayings and the crocheted doilies are right in style. The download calls them rope but they sure look like crochet to me. I added the Vintage Overlays Stamp Brush Set  texture 6 to give this card a shabby chic look. Click here to see the new downloads and order the ones you know you need! As always you can also click on the product name in the supplies list to place them on your order.

My Digital Studio Monday – Layers, Layers, Layers

MDS 8-15-11 copy
The challenge for Utah Divas International's My Digital Studio Monday this week is to see how many layers you can use on your digital project. I count about 12 layers on this one. This card also used the weekend sketch from Stamping 411. One of the layers is a really subtle one, Vintage Overlays. I used texture 6 and stamped it in soft suede so it gave my card a rumpled and aged look. I love the new Beau Chateau designer series paper and am so happy that Stampin' Up! came out with a digital version of it. Thanks, Stampin' Up! If you need…and you know you do…any of the downloads I used for this card, just click on the item numbers to take you to my online store.

My Digital Studio Monday – I’m in the groove again!

Wow! With stamping cards for swapping at comvention and visiting friends on our travel to convention, I completely spaced out last Monday's post. Convention was a blast and I got so many great ideas to share with you all. We are now traveling home from convention but hopefully I will have time to post frequently.

MDS Monday Delicate Doilies

Here is my card for this Monday. The theme is circles. I have a hard time doing circles but a doily is a circle…right? This digital download, Delicate Doilies, was the perfect solution for my card. I added some of the wonderful new In Colors, Pool Party and Island Indigo by placing small circle punches filled with color behind the doilies. The Island Indigo  was too strong a color for the rest of the composition, so I reduced the opacity of the color in the punches. The addition of Island Indigo 3/8" Ruffled Ribbonadds the perfect final touch. As always, click on the item number of each element to place an order for it through my online store.

Supplies:
My Digital Studio (118108) or My Digital Studio Express (124483)

Stamp Brush Sets: Delicate Doilies (124226)
            Hugs and Wishes (119095)

Other: 3/8" Ruffled Ribbon (127349)
            Basic Pearls and Rhinestones (124330)
            Decorative Label Punch (123951)
Circle Punch – part of Punch Shapes (118853)

Check back in the next few days for tidbits of convention.

Happy Creating,

Sue Erickson

Stamping 411 Sample

Here is the sketch for this weekend                 and here is my version.

6-4-11 sketch         Stamping 411 6-6-11-001

I have my stamping supplies now in our travel trailer but haven't gotten them out yet. Therefore this card is again a digital one. I chose to use the Fabulous Florets set from the Stampin' Up! Summer Mini catalog. I used the corresponding Beyond the Garden Designer Series paper. It is so great that Stampin' Up! works so hard to have paper, card stock, inks, and stamps that all go together so well.

Thanks for coming to visit me today. Have a cool drink of virtual lemonaid while you take some time to browse my blog.

My Digital Studio Monday – Happy Memorial Day!

MDS Monday 5-30-11-001 My card today is to thank the service people who have put their lives in danger for our peace and freedom.  I added the new Baker's Twine to the three panels to give them a little texture. The star punches are filled with various designs from the new Nautical Exposition designer series digital paper. One the great things about designing digitally is that you can resize a punch or stamp set like I did with the stars. If you don't have the necessary items to make this card, and don't have a demonstrator already, just click on the item number to order it.

Thanks for stopping by to visit today. I hope you took time to browse while you enjoyed a virtual cup of coffee or tea with me.

My Stamping 411 Sample

5-28-11 sketch 5-28-11 card-001

This sketch challenge from Stamping 411 was fun to use. I created this card using My Digital Studio because we are still visiting family in Seattle and I haven't unpacked my stamping supplies that I brought along on our 2 month trip to the 'lower 48'. I chose to use elements from The Open Sea stamp set and the Nautical Expedition Designer Series papers. I really love this combination of the stamp set and the papers. To finish off the card, I added a Baker's Twine bow.

Stamp Brush Set: The Open Sea (124112)

Paper: Night of Navy card stock

The Oldest Stamp Set – Lovely as a Tree

Lovely as a Tree-001 What is the oldest current stamp set in your collection? Mine has to be Lovely As A Tree which was first released in the 2003-2004 Idea Book and Catalog. This stamp set is well loved by many, many stampers. If you don't have Lovely as a Tree, you can order it here. Since it has been around for so many years, each year I expect it to be on the retirement list so don't wait to order it!

I am traveling for two months and did not bring this set along with me. Therefore I used the digital download of Lovely as a Tree to create this card. I wanted to simulate a watercolor wash on the background so made bands of color using expanded square punches filled with the drop shadow feature of My Digital Studio. I am quite pleased with the results.

I challenge you to pull out one of your oldies but goodies that is still in the Stampin' Up! catalog and make a card with it. Then email it to me and I will post it here.

Let me see those samples,

Sue

5-22-11 sketch 5-22-11 411 card-001 I'm a little late posting this card because we are traveling and are currently staying in a hotel in Seattle. Thank heavens for My Digital Studio because my stamping supplies are packed in the back of our truck. Yes, I did pack stamps, some ink cubes, paper and embellishments. I couldn't possibly go two months without stamping and will need to make swap cards for convention while we are traveling.

Thanks for coming by to visit today. Please take time to enjoy a virtual cup of coffee or tea while you browse my blog. If you like this card, share it with your friends and leave me a comment. I love getting comments.

My Digital Studio Monday – Fit for a Queen

Queen of Hearts-001 Our challenge today was to create a card fit for a queen to honor Queen Victoria. Initially I didn't think I would be able to participate this week because we have been traveling through Canada to spend two months in the 'lower fourty-eight' as we Alaskans call the continental United States. However, thanks to My Digital Studio being a complete stamping room on my computer, I was able to create this card while riding on a ferry to Prince Rupert in British Columbia.

I created my own 'embossed' background paper by stamping the fleur-de-lis stamp from Extreme Elements onto the background filled with Blushing Bride color. I changed the drop shadow to Regal Rose with an opacity of 100% and Blur of 100%. I changed the color of the stamp to Blushing Bride so that just the drop shadow shows up. I created the greeting using the Lucinda Calligraphy font and size 16. If you would like to create this card and need some of the components, just click on the item links to go to my online store and purchase them. You will be able to download them immediately. Just a reminder, there is only about a week left to purchase exclusive National Scrapbooking Month digital download bundles at 30% off! My Digital Studio Monday – Mother’s Day Card

5-9- Mother's Day-001 Happy Belated Mother's Day!!! I hope you had a great day no matter if you are a mother or not.

The theme for this week for the Utah Divas International design team was to create a Mother's Day card. I chose to use a stamp from the new stamp brush set Green Tea. I used the Fun Flower 1 punch and filled it with Pink Pirouette color. The background paper is from the Green Tea Designer Series Paper. A satin ribbon and bow, an antique brad, and some pearls finish off the card.

I remember and am most thankful to my mom for the loving time she spent in creating some pretty special outfits for me to wear. Money was tight but her sewing skills allowed me to have a few stylish skirts and dresses.

What memories of your mother are special to you? Please feel free to share them in the comments.

Thanks for coming to visit today. If you want/need any of the supplies I used, just click on the item to go to my online store.

Happy Stamping,

My Digital Studio Monday — Handpicked for Mom

My Project 3-001 Usually every Tuesday, Stampin' Up! offers new downloads for My Digital Studio. This past week the Handpicked for Mom card template was one of the downloads we could order. I just LOVE the composition of this template! I wanted to share an Easter card, though, not a Mother's Day card at this time. All I had to do was open a 5.5 x 4.25 card, choose Designer Template, choose Handpicked for Mom, click on the greeting and delete it. I clicked on the banner and widened it. (You will get the message that increasing the size will cause pixelation but it will be not really noticeable.) Then I opened the stamp brush set Easter Blossoms and added the Happy Easter to the card. I resized it to fit on the banner and changed the color to white. Voila! The card was finished! Sooooo easy!!! Check out the templates that are offered with My Digital Studio. They can be personalized or used as is. Click on the item numbers to link to my online store to purchase these new downloads.

If you like this project or the other projects I share on my blog, take the time to sign up for my Soggy Stamper Newsletter. The sign-up box is on the right and the process is easy. Each month I will send out an e-newsletter filled with step-by-step projects, tool tips, a question and answer feature, and a technique for you to try.

Happy Stamping,
