Convention Swap card 2 – Everything Eleanor

Vase convention card

Supplies: Stamp sets: Everything Eleanor (w-124162, c-124164), Perfectly Penned (w-122890, c-122892); Inks: Gumball Green (126861) Basic Gray (126981); Card Stock: Gumball Green (126840), Midnight Muse (126843), Primrose Petals (126841), Whisper White (100730); Other: 3/16" Neutral Brads (119736), Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder (120175), Apothecary Accents Framelits (127003), Big Shot Die-cut Machine (113439)

This year I only made 25 each of 2 different designs for swap cards as I do not have as much space for a stash of cards. I posted the first card here and this is the second card. I love the flowers from Everything Eleanor which I used here. I stamped the middle-sized flower twice and cut part of the petals off for a second layer. The other two flowers are the smallest flower.

I particularly love the vase. I cut Midnight Muse card stock with one of the Apothecary Accents Framelits and cut part of each end off to create the vase. Then I put the punched piece into the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder centering the vase over the center of one of the elements and running it through the Big Shot. It is important to cut first then emboss as reversing the process flattens the embossing a bit.

Serene Silhouette Heat Embossed Resist

Seren Silhouette embossed resistThis is the second card we made at last Sunday's workshop. It uses the heat-embossed resist technique.

I stamped the image on Whisper White card stock with Versamark ink. After sprinkling it with white embossing powder, I heat embossed it. Then Garden Green, Baja Breeze, and Daffodil Delight inks were burnished into the card stock with sponge daubers. The image was then cut out with one of the Apothecary Accents Framelits. It was then mounted on Crumb Cake and Whisper White card stock. The base of the card is Garden Green card stock and the front was dry embossed with the Big Shot and Fancy Fan embossing folder. I added a Basic Pearl at the bottom as an added accent. If you would like to create this card for yourself and don't have all the supplies, just click on the links to be taken to their location in my online store.

Supplies: Serene Silhouettes stamp set (w-127322, c-127324), Apothecary Accents Framelits (127003), Fancy Fan Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (127751), Basic Pearls (119247), Sponge Daubers (102892)

You Should Have Been Here!

Medallion card wax paper bkgd

Supplies: Designer Rosette Bigz XL die (125594), Big Shot Die-Cut Machine (113439), Twitterpated Designer Series Paper (125406), Glossy White card stock (102599), Modern Label Punch (119849), Affection Collection Stamp Set (w-127946, c-127949), Soft  Suede card stock (115318), Whisper White 5/8" organza ribbon (114319), Vintage Faceted Designer Buttons (127555), wax paper, iron, ironing board or pad

If you had been to Dina Merchant's workshop last Sunday, you would have had so much fun. Conversation was so lively that we could hardly concentrate on stamping but…we did get two cards made.

I was featuring a couple of resist techniques, the use of a brayer, and the Designer Rosette die. The background of this card is the wax-paper resist technique.

To do this technique, crumple a piece of wax paper that is slightly larger than your card stock. Smooth it out slightly and place it between two pieces of glossy card stock with the glossy sides facing each other. Put paper on both sides of the card stock to protect your iron and ironing board, then press on dry heat for about 5 sec. Check to see if all parts of your card stock got a pattern on it. If not, you can iron them a little longer but not too long or the wax will be absorbed into the card stock. Use a brayer to apply ink all over the piece of card stock. Buff off the ink on the waxed crinkles with a soft tissue, then use the card stock as desired.  Of the two cards we made, this was the favorite. Come back tomorrow to see the other card using the heat embossed resist technique.

Until next time…blessings,

My Digital Studio Monday – Send Me Soaring

MDS Monday 8-6-12-002
Supplies: MDS 2+ (130646), MDS 2 upgrade (130650), MDS 2 (130644), or 30-day Free Trial of MDS 2 (130910); Downtown Grunge Photobook Template Designer Series Paper – 4 (126056); Sweet Details Designer Series Paper (125744); Vintage Overlays stamp brush set (121061); Send Me Soaring stamp brush set (129589); Autumn Elements stamp brush set (127172); Creatively Yours stamp brush set (130163); Square punch from Punch Shapes (118853); Tasteful Trim Shape-1 punch (123996)

Whoosh…that is a lot of different items used on this card! The great thing is that all of it is included in the MDS 2+ download. The theme for today's creation is beach or swimming pool. Not having a beach stamp brush set included in MDS 2+ and not having access yet to my other downloaded files, I created this beach card using punches and the Send Me Soaring stamp brush set. I used the Tasteful Trim – 1 punch and stretched it out to make the waves. I filled it with one of the Sweet Details designer series papers for the color and slight texture. The sand effect was created using the wrinkled Downtown Grunge designer series paper and one of the Vintage Overlays stamp brushes. Finally, I used the Creatively Yours stamp brush set for the copyright symbol and added my name. If you need any of the elements I used for this card, just click on the name and you'll be taken to my online store to order it. However, you can get all the above files plus much, much more if you order MDS 2+. :o)

Let me explain the differences between the options for MDS 2. If you already have MDS, you can purchase the MDS 2 upgrade for just $19.95. This will give you the new software and all its wonderful functionality. It won't upgrade your existing stamp brush sets to svg files nor will it add new content. If you purchased MDS between April 16 and Aug 1, you should get an email giving instructions on how to upgrade the program to MDS 2 for FREE!

If you don't already have MDS, purchase MDS 2 for $39.95. This gives you the basic software program and limited content files. OR…you can order MDS 2+ for $79.95 and get it all. Even though I already had MDS, I went ahead and ordered MDS 2+ for $79.95 so my existing stamp brush sets in MDS that are duplicated in MDS 2+ would be upgraded to svg files.

Still on the fence? Then order the FREE 30-day trial of MDS 2. Play with all the wonderful new features for 30-days for free. Then I know you will want to order the whole MDS 2+. You will be hooked! As always, I am here to help you and I am developing a series of videos to show you how to use the program.

Thanks for coming by to visit today. Do come back tomorrow to see what other new digital downloads Stampin' Up! has for us.

Until the next time…blessings,

Welcome to My Digital Studio Monday. If you are coming here from a link on the Utah Divas International blog, click here for the scrapbook page on today's post.I actually posted that page last Thursday but accidentally sent it in for My Digital Studio Monday.

On this card I used the beautiful Wonderful Whimsies Designer Series Paper which was one of the new downloads available last Tuesday. I love the colors and softness of the designs. I used my favorite Decorative Label Punch to create the line between the two designs of paper. I apologize for not knowing how I got the Elementary Elegance Stamp Brush Set. It isn't in the online catalog and I suspect it came along with one of the designer kits. When I find out, I will let you all know.

Tomorrow I travel the last leg of my trip to Salt Lake City and convention. My first class at convention is Wednesday night and it is a class using My Digital Studio. I will be sure to share some of the things I learn with you so stay tuned.

Until next time…blessings,
Sue

P.S. I just found out that the Elementary Elegance Stamp Brush Set is from a Sale-a-bration DVD and is therefore retired. This is a good reason to get those DVDs when you can.

Oh, do I like Tuesdays! This is the day that Stampin' Up! releases new digital downloads for My Digital Studio. I always get up in anticipation of seeing what cool things I can download to use in my digital designing. This week did not disappoint me. Since my husband and I are about to embark on an extended RV trip with our two dachshounds, I just HAD to get the Fifty Nifty Kit! When I saw the thumbnail in the PDF of this week's downloads, I was sorry to see that Alaska and Hawaii were not included in the thumbnail but I bought the download anyway. I was not disappointed! The above card shows a sunset I enjoyed from our kitchen window. To see the rest of the new downloads and to order them, click here and you will be taken to my online store. The new downloads are displayed on the right side of the page.

I'd like to remind you that the retiring digital collection DVDs in the 2011-2012 Idea Book and Catalog are retiring and are 60% off! They are still available but don't wait to order them any longer as they may sell out at any time. Visit here to see the content in the DVDs then order them here.

Welcome to The Soggy Stamper blog. First off, I want to remind you that today, April 30, is the last day you can items from the Occasions Mini catalog. To be sure you get all you wanted to purchase from this catalog, visit my online store here an place your order. Our mission as the Utah Divas International MDS Monday design team was to CASE a card or sb page from the Occasions Mini catalog. I choose the So Grateful card on pg 25. I hadn't downloaded the digital form of Apothecary Art until tonight when I wanted to CASE this card. The beauty of My Digital Studio is that you can decide you need a particular stamp or embellishment and have it ready to use within minutes! Another beautiful thing is that the only things that ever retire from My Digital Studio are the content DVDs that appear in the catalogs. All the rest don't retire. In fact, the creative team at Stampin' Up! is even bringing to My Digital Studio designer series papers that have been retired from the traditional paper crafting scene. So give this program a try. You will find some of your favorite colors like Almost Amethyst card stock available in My Digital Studio. What do you have to lose with our FREE 30-day trial of My Digital Studio Express? I'm here to help you get started and to give you creative ideas.

My May edition of News from My Digital Craft Corner will be published tomorrow. If you haven't already subscribed to my newsletter, please take time to do so now. Just fill in the box to the right. Then you will receive an e-mail asking you to opt in. You need to respond to that email to begin receiving the newsletter. This month's edition has a couple of really beautiful projects.

Terrific Wednesday – Presto Patterns Overlays

New overlay-001_edited-1
Supplies: My Digital Studio (118108), My Digital Studio Express (124483) or FREE 30-day trial of My Digital Studio Express (129600), Downtown Grunge Designer Series Paper – 4 from Downtown Photobook Designer Template (126056), Presto Patterns Overlays stamp brush set (122142), Thoughts and Prayers stamp brush set included in the full My Digital Studio software, (Scallop Dots Ribbon (127350)

Did you check out the new downloads yesterday? If you missed them, you can check them out and then order them here. They are shown on the right side of my store front. Click on each image to see a larger photo of the download and a great description. I ordered the Presto Patterns Overlays because I love the floral frame included with this download. Here is what you get with this download for only $7.95:

Presto Patterns Overlays
The card at the top of this post was so quick to make the floral frame overlay. I added Marina Mist cardstock for the background. Then I enlarged the square punch to leave just a border of Marina Mist and filled the punch with Downtown Grunge designer series paper – 4. (I love that wrinkled craft paper look!) I then applied the overlay and resized it to about a 3.6" width and used Early Espresso color. I added the sentiment from the Thoughts and Prayers stamp brush set and the scallop dotted ribbon in Marina Mist to finish off the card.

My Digital Studio Monday – Forever Young

MDS Monday 4-16-12-001

Supplies: My Digital Studio (118108), Forever Young stamp brush set (123145), Bring on the Cake stamp brush set (124015), Labels Collection Punch (129336), Scallop Dots Ribbon (127350)

Welcome to The Soggy Stamper here in SE Alaska. Our design team assignment over on Utah Divas International was to create using Always Artichoke, Lucky Limeade and Basic Black. I took the liberties of adding Whisper White to the color scheme. I started with the idea of having just one Labels Collection punch filled with Lucky Limeade. Then I remembered that two are better than one so I layered a smaller black one over the Lucky Limeade one. That reminded me of a cameo so I stamped the girl swinging in the tree from the Forever Young stamp brush set in Whisper White on the black label. The image is very large so you need to shrink it down a lot to make it fit. The Happy Birthday is from the Bring on the Cake stamp brush set and I typed the bottom greeting using Segoe Script 20 pt. To order the supplies you need to create this card, either click on the item name or click here to visit my online store.

Thanks for stopping by to visit today. If you like this card, feel free to share this link soggystamper.com/2012/04/my-digital-studio-monday-forever-young-2 with your friends and pin it to your Pinterest board. My Digital Studio Monday – Easter Blossoms

MDS Monday 4-9-12-001I hope you all had a wonderful Easter yesterday. The theme for this Monday's post was Easter cards. I used the Easter Blossoms stamp brush set and Vintage Overlays to create this card. I also wanted white accents so decided to use the Paper Daisies embellishment. I have had them for a long time but this is the first time I have used them. To order the downloads I have used, just click on the item names or click here to visit my online store.

Thanks for coming to visit today. Do come back tomorrow to see what I do with some new downloads.

The theme for today for the Utah Divas International design team was to create a humorous card. I lack any really funny stamp brush sets so decided to use the dogs from the Man's Best Friend stamp brush set. If you have been reading my blog for a while, you probably have gathered that we have a couple of mini dachshunds that are our furry babies and I love dogs. They are truly best friends! I used the oval punch for the hills. The clouds are from Man's Best Friend and the New Heights Kit. The grass is from the Pumpkin Patch stamp brush set.

These little dogs always make me smile. I hope they bring a smile to your face too! To order the downloads I used for this card just click on the download name or visit my online store here.
