Terrific Tuesday – Everybody’s Business DSP

Everybody's Business DSP digital download

Yep…it is a Terrific Tuesday and I have a terrific card to share with you using the new Everybody’s Business DSP download. I particularly like this new download because each pattern of dsp not only has a colored version but also a grayscale version for you to color. I love using the recoloring feature of MDS! In this card I recolored the dsp with Crisp Cantaloupe and the Whisper White grosgrain ribbon with Cajun Craze. (You have to usually go much darker when recoloring ribbon to get the right shade, so play with different options.) As usual, I thought the Soft Sky card base looked a little flat so I added the overlay stamp from the Because I’m The Dad Greeting Card Template and recolored it Soft Sky. By adding a drop shadow to the overlay, I got just the effect I wanted, just a hint of texture. Go here to see and purchase today’s new downloads.

Supplies:

MDS software disc (130647), MDS software digital download (130646) or MDS 30-day Free Trial (130910)

Stamp Brush Sets:  Because I’m The Dad Greeting Card Template (134685) – overlay, Holiday Blitz – thanks

Paper: Soft Sky background, Everybody’s Business DSP (133499) – 7 (grayscale colored Crisp Cantaloupe)

Recycled Wedding Card

Mother's Day card using home made shimmer mist

In May I shared this Mother’s Day card along with directions for making your own shimmer spritz. You can read about it here. Today I needed a wedding card and began working on my design. I didn’t have wedding greetings in my arsenal, so I turned to MDS and found just what I needed. I printed out the greetings on Whisper White card stock and trimmed them down. I was still trying to decide what to do for the rest of the card when I saw this card lying on my stamping table. I was able to gently lift off the top layer of the card and use it on a different design. The greeting would cover the Happy Mother’s Day that I had stamped directly on the layer. Here is the beautifully recycled wedding card.

A Word for You hybrid cardI really love using Crisp Cantaloupe for the card base. The inside of the card has a greeting from the Curvy Verses stamp set. This stamp set retired this year so it is no longer available for purchase.  But thanks to MDS, I can still use it. You can shop for the supplies I used in my online store.

My Digital Studio Monday – Using the Color Tool

Using the MDS Color Tool

Good morning! It is My Digital Studio Monday and I have been mentally creating this scrapbook page of my lovely granddaughter. She has always been quite the tomboy and very athletic so I was quite surprised at how beautiful she looks all dolled up! Wow! This is my version of the MDSM 16 challenge to use the color tool on a stamp. The color brush tool is so easy to use and you can even use the color picker to get an exact color match to another element on the page. This time, I just colored the flowers of the floral frame Whisper White. Here is the challenge sketch:

My Digital Studio Monday Challenge 16

Have you tried Stampin’ Up!’s professional printer yet? Now is the perfect time to do so because select print products are 25% off. The process is relatively easy and your printed projects are shipped directly to you. The last day of the sale is June 15 so get busy creating and then send your creation off to be printed. Be sure to list me as your demonstrator. :o)

You may think that the Pop ‘n Cuts Card Base die is only for making pop-up cards but the exclusive closure lends the card base to all kinds of other uses. I used it to make these gift card enclosures. I created the greetings with MDS, printed them on Whisper White card stock and then cut them out. I cut a piece of Pool Party Core’dinations card stock, embossed it with the Delicate Designs embossing folder, and sanded it lightly before adhering it. Terrific Tuesday – Convention 2013 Photobook Template

Convention 2013 Photobook Template Convention 2013 Photobook Template

I hope you all had a wonderful, safe Memorial Day weekend. I participated in the Prince of Wales Annual Marathon by walking a two mile leg with the Klawalkers, a 15 person team ranging in age from 18 to 83. The weather was perfect and it was fun! I’ll scrap some pictures later this week.

Today is Terrific Tuesday and we have some terrific downloads for you to enjoy. You will definitely want to go check them out and order a couple here. I love the convention photo books because they have so many wonderful elements included in the kits. I choose this pattern of the Convention 2013 Photobook Template because it goes perfectly with our granddaughter’s prom dress. That is all I used for these two scrapbook pages. I just added text and the photos for a beautiful way to highlight these photos. This is a very easy layout for a newbie at digital scrapbooking. If you haven’t taken the plunge yet, go ahead and do it. The MDS software is availble in a disc but why wait? Order the digital version, they are both only $19.95, and start enjoying creativitiy in a new exciting way!

Go Graduate Plus easy digital card

Go Grduate Plus digital card

Graduation season is upon us and Craig High School’s graduation is tomorrow night. I wanted a quick graduation card but have almost no traditional graduation stamps. Not a problem since I have several stamp brush sets for graduation in my MDS program. :o)  This card is a great project for a beginner with MDS. I created it in 4 quick steps.
1. Open MDS and choose cards and tags>greeting cards>5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ landscape>design your own.

2. Go to backgrounds and choose card stock>Garden Green and apply it to your project.

3. Go to punches and choose Labels and tags>Labels Collection 2 and apply it. Then turn it 90 degrees and center it horizontally and vertically. Fill with Be Yourself Designer Series Paper pattern 1 which comes with the Be Yourself May Kit and add a drop shadow.

4. Go to stamps and choose Go Graduate Plus and add the greeting. Position it as you desire.

You are done! Send this card out to Stampin’ Up!’s professional printer (the inside will be blank since we didn’t add anything to it) or print it out on your printer. I actually created a hybrid card like this. Instead of using the Labels Collection 2 punch, I used a square punch sized to 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″. After printing it out on Whisper White card stock, I used my Labels Collection die to cut out the greeting and mounted it onto a Garden Green card base.

Supplies:
MDS software digital download (130646) or MDS software disc (130647)

Be Yourself May Kit (133426)

Go Graduate Plus stamp brush set (121069)

Labels Collection punch (129336)

Terrific Tuesday – You Are So Nice Kit

You are so nice digital card
Yes, today is Terrific Tuesday and we have some really terrific downloads to order today. One of them is even FREE! I chose to use this You Are So Nice Digital Kit to create this birthday card. I absolutely love, love, love the soft colors which are a collection of both retired and current colors…Apricot Appeal, Blushing Bride, Dusty Durango, Going Gray, Island Indigo, Pool Party, Rich Razzleberry, and Wisteria Wonder. I recolored the Certainly Celery Timeless Taffeta Trimmings with Cameo Coral to approximate the peach color in the designer series paper. I tried to use the color picker but the color of the ribbon was too light. Click here to see the new downloads and place your order for them.

Tomorrow's the day! The moving day! The My Digital Craft Corner blog is joining forces with The Soggy Stamper blog over on WordPress. This gives you the best of two worlds. Finally Spring in SE Alaska – Easter Blossoms Stamp Brush Set

Easter Blossoms digital card

Spring has finally arrived! The last three days have been sunny and the high temps have been in the 60's. Yay and such joy!

The card above has an ariel view of the tulip fields near LaConner, Washington. This is a beautiful sign of spring in that area. (No, I didn't take the photo.)

So that is what spring looks like in the Skagit Valley of Washington. Here is what spring looks like here on Prince of Wales Island in Alaska.

Dandelions
The roadsides, hillsides, and yards are filled with these sunny yellow flowers. The story is told that an early missionary to SE Alaska really missed dandelions so she had a friend send her dandelion seeds to plant in Alaska. What was she thinking?????!!!!! Alaska dandelions are huge! Just look at this clump. I haven't measured the diameter of one of them but I would estimate it is at least 1 1/2" across!

Dandelions 2

For the card, I used the greeting from the Easter Blossoms stamp brush set and the tulip blossom from the Convention 2011 Designer Template. I dropped the opacity of the tulip to 80% and the Convention 2012 Photobook Template – Curvy Frame Label to 60% . The mat around the photo was colored using the color picker to match one of the colors of tulips in the photo. Both of the convention designer templates are currently on sale for 25% off. As you can see, they are not just for creating scrapbooks. They are filled with tons of wonderful things to use for cards and 3-D items as well. Check down at the bottom of the post to see what these two kits include. Then click on the linked item names or visit my online store to order them. What a Milestone! – Natural Composition Overlays

Natural Composition Overlays

Our son-in-law reached a huge milestone on Monday when he was awarded his Air Force Master Sargeant stripes. He has been working on this promotion for several years. We are so proud of him. What makes it even a sweeter accomplishment is that two of his sons are also military and were present at the ceremony to pin his stripes on him. I got the image of the Air Force master sargeant stripes from the internet, reduced it in size, then copy and pasted to make the border in the bottom left corner of this scrapbook page.

To add texture to the background, I added Natural Composition Overlays – 9 colored with Sahara Sand to a Whisper White background. The title of the page was created with the Marker Felt font.

I use this particular Natural Composition Overlays pattern often to give definition and depth to backgrounds. If you haven't discovered the wonderful possibilities of overlay stamp brush sets, I encourage you to order this one by clicking on the linked name or visiting my online store here. Then begin experimenting with it. Changing your mind is just a click away and no paper or ink is wasted.

MDS Monday Challenge #12- Decorative Overlays

All in the Family Decorative Overlay

This is my submission for the MDS Monday Challenge #12. The challenge was to use this sketch

MDSHolly 12-001

and to use the freeform brush. Our daughter fell in love with her husband when she was a junior in college and they have been joined at the hip as her husband says ever since.

I used the freeform brush to create the scribbled heart with Cherry Cobbler color. To create interest in the background, I added the starburst design of the Decorative Overlays Stamp Brush Set and reduced the opacity to 30%. The Flag punch is filled with Love Letter Designer Series Paper pattern 11.

I hope you like this 8"x 8" digital scrapbook page. To order the supplies I used either click on the inked names or visit my online store. If you haven't tried MDS, order it today. The price is only $19.95 and you have my support to help you get started. You have nothing to lose and tons of creative enjoyment to gain!

Supplies:
MDS digital download (130646) or 30-day Free Trial of MDS (130910)
Decorative Ovelays Stamp Brush Set (129880)
Love Letter Designer Series Paper (124012)

Welcome to My New Home

Christmas Lodge

Welcome to the new home for The Soggy Stamper blog. After days of painting the walls, moving pictures around and rearranging furniture, The Soggy Stamper’s new home is ready for your visits. Oh yes, I need to add that I have a new ‘roommate’ here on this blog.

My Digital Craft Corner has moved in. I debated having her become part of this blog for some time but decided it would be to your advantage to see what is happening in my digital crafting corner as well as in my traditional stamping room. For my readers who have no interest whatsoever in traditional stamping, you click on the digital crafting tab on the menu bar at the top to go directly to my digital posts. My aim is to give traditional paper crafting and digital papercrafting equal time. Please leave me a comment as to how you feel about this combination of the two blogs.

On to the card which I created with MDS. The stamp brush set is Christmas Lodge (125611) which I colored with the coloring tool feature using Always Artichoke and . This tool just colors the lines of the stamp. If I had used the freeform brush to color the image, the color would have been between the lines…well between, on, and outside the lines…LOL! I would then have been able to have a blue sky. I created the snowdrift by changing the shape of the 1.25″ square punch. I moved the drop shadow to the top of the punch so there would be a line separating the two Whisper White areas.
