My Digital Studio Monday — Handpicked for Mom

My Project 3-001 Usually every Tuesday, Stampin' Up! offers new downloads for My Digital Studio. This past week the Handpicked for Mom card template was one of the downloads we could order. I just LOVE the composition of this template! I wanted to share an Easter card, though, not a Mother's Day card at this time. All I had to do was open a 5.5 x 4.25 card, choose Designer Template, choose Handpicked for Mom, click on the greeting and delete it. I clicked on the banner and widened it. (You will get the message that increasing the size will cause pixelation but it will be not really noticeable.) Then I opened the stamp brush set Easter Blossoms and added the Happy Easter to the card. I resized it to fit on the banner and changed the color to white. Voila! The card was finished! Sooooo easy!!! Check out the templates that are offered with My Digital Studio. They can be personalized or used as is. Click on the item numbers to link to my online store to purchase these new downloads.

If you like this project or the other projects I share on my blog, take the time to sign up for my Soggy Stamper Newsletter. The sign-up box is on the right and the process is easy. Each month I will send out an e-newsletter filled with step-by-step projects, tool tips, a question and answer feature, and a technique for you to try.

Looking back at my blog posts, you would think the only stamping I am doing is with My Digital Studio and you would be right. For some reason I go up to my stamp room to create and get no where. It could be that the room is so messy. It could be that I am in love with the ease of creating with My Digital Studio and challenge myself to create increasingly more complex work. Today's card for the Stamping 411 challenge comes from a long desire to create a blog banner that incorporates the Soggy Stamper theme. Stampin' Up! just this week offered the Sunset Serenade Stamp Brush Set and Sunset Serenade Designer Series Paper downloads. The stamp brush set was exactly what I was waiting for. The girl with the windswept hair and the rain image work well with the umbrella from the Year In Review Stamp Brush Set. When I created my blog a couple years ago I had the image of the Morton Salt girl with her umbrella in mind. Now I have a close approximation to it! I haven't created the new banner but here is the girl. I hope you like the card. If you do, I'd be grateful if you would leave a comment. I'd also love to have you go to my FaceBook page and 'like' me if you haven't already done so.

Thanks for coming by to visit. Do come back often as I love company!

I seem to be only creating digitally the last few weeks. For some reason I go up to my stamp room to create and get no where. It could be that the room is so messy. It could be that I am in love with the ease of creating with My Digital Studio and challenge myself to create increasingly more complex work. Stampin' Up!, just this week, offered the Sunset Serenade Stamp Brush Set and Sunset Serenade Designer Series Paper downloads. The stamp brush set was exactly what I was waiting for. The girl with the windswept hair and the rain image work well with the umbrella from the Year In Review Stamp Brush Set. The girl on this card resembles the Morton Salt girl. Since I live in SE Alaska where we get about 130 inches of precipitation per year and most of that in rain, I often feel like this girl except we don't use umbrellas! The wind would blow them inside out in a minute! I hope you like this card. If you do, I'd be grateful if you would leave a comment. I'd also love to have you go to my FaceBook page and 'like' me if you haven't already done so.

I am on the design team for Utah Divas International My Digital Studio Monday and we are supposed to be designing digital cards with My Digital Studio with the beginner in mind. Ooops! I got so involved with creating my card, adding a layer here and a spot of color there, that I forgot it was supposed to be for a beginner. So I created the same card using just very basic techniques.

For the basic card I started with a base color of Soft Suede. I stretched the square punch to cover about 2/3 of the card and filled it with one of the patterns from Botanical Gazette Designer Series Paper. I added a strip of Always Artichoke Seam Binding over the bottom of the designer paper. I filled the scallop circle punch using the color picker and picking one of the colors in the designer paper. I added a drop shadow to the punch so it stood out. I stamped the bird from the Friends 24/7 Stamp Brush Set onto the scallop circle and colored it with Soft Suede. Next, I stamped the verse from Friends 24/7 on the soft Suede bottom of the card and used the color picker to match the print with the scallop circle. Finally I added an Always Artichoke seam binding knot.

In the stepped up card, I skipped the Soft Suede base and applied the Botanical Gazette Designer Series Paper directly on the base. I filled the scallop circle with Very Vanilla and again stamped the bird with Soft Suede. I used the oval punch to add Blushing Bride to the bird's breast and neck. After I got the ovals in place I moved them backward so the soft suede stamp was in front. Again I added a drop shadow to the scallop circle. I used a leaf punch from Blossom Petals Punch filled with Wild Wasabi to color in the leaves. The next layer I added was Vintage Overlays Texture 8 Stamp Brush to add some antiquing. When I stamped the verse from Friends 24/7, it was difficult to read on top of the designer paper so I placed an oval punch filled with color picked from the background paper behind the verse. I reduced the opacity until the edges of the oval pretty much blended into the background. Finally I placed Pear Pizzazz Seam Binding diagonally across the corner and added a bow.

The simple card was very quick to design…maybe because I did the stepped up one first and didn't need to experiment with design. I like both cards but the stepped up one is my favorite. Which card do you like best? Leave me a comment. The design process was so much fun and so satisfying. To purchase the files I used, just click on the item numbers and the link will take you to my online store. It’s Saturday! Time for a Stamping 411 card

4-9-11 sketch Fabulous Florets digital card

For my Stamping 411 Saturday challenge today, I wanted to use one of the stamp sets that are in the Summer Mini catalog, Fabulous Florets. I love this stamp set but have lots of other flower stamps so didn't order it. However, I did order the My Digital Studio Fabulous Florets Stamp Brush set. Therefore this is a digital design. I colored the flower bud by superimposing the Blossom Petals Leaf 2 punch filled with Rose Red color and resized. I placed a scalloped circle of Whisper White behind the Regal Rose flower so the lines of the leaves and stems wouldn't show through the flower image. After stamping the leaves, I was not satisfied with the solid, flat image of the leaves. To fix this, I used the leaf stamps from Build a Blossom colored with Always Artichoke. I resized and rotated the stamps to fit on the leaves. This time, the card took much longer using My Digital Studio than it would have if I had made it by hand. But…the fun is in the creating, right? And I did have fun. So you don't miss out on the fun any longer, click on the link to order your own personal copy of My Digital Studio. The individual files work with most programs that use .png or .jpg files and layers. If you already have a favorite digital designing program, you are welcome to purchase any and all digital files you like.

New My Digital Studio Downloads!

New Download card for blogs-001 copy Yesterday, Stampin' Up! released a new series of My Digital Studio downloads. This card is made with Easter Blossoms Stamp Brush Set from this current download and the Nursery Designer Series Paper download that was released February 15. Click on the links for pictures of the downloads.

I used Early Espresso card stock for the base of the card. Then I enlarged the square punch and filled it with Nursery Designer Series Paper #3. I added a circle punch and elongated it to make the egg shape. I filled this with Nursery Designer Series Paper #11 and moved the punch around to get the border of the paper in the punch. To do this you will have to unclick the box that says to rotate fill with punch. Once you get the fill as you want it, click the box again so the fill will rotate and move along with the punch. The "grass" is All Scallops Stamp Brush Set #8 stamped with Garden Green. I copied and pasted it three times to get the clumps of grass.

If you like this card, please leave a comment, click the FB like button, and share it with your friends. Thanks for coming to visit today and I hope that the promise of Spring lifts your spirits today.

Introducing MDS Monday

Waiting for Papa-001

I have decided to focus on samples created by My Digital Studio software each Monday. Here is my first offering for you to enjoy. We have two mini dachshunds who are brother and sister. They love to pile up on each other and so very often sit or walk perfectly parallel to each other. Here they are sitting by the door with their noses at the crack in the door, eagerly waiting for my husband to come back in the door. I'd love to get your reaction to the picture and this 8" x 8" digital scrapbook page so post a comment.

Merry Christmas Digital Style

Oh how I love My Digital Studio! I am currently in Seattle house/dog sitting for our daughter Erin but can still enjoy stamping. I have a virtual stamp studio right in my computer and I am excited to share with you this card I made this morning. Although I am really attached to my hands-on stamps and supplies, I am rapidly learning that I can't do without My Digital Studio just like I can't do without my lattes! One of he beauties of My Digital Studio is that you can resize punches and accessories to fit your project. I shrank both the Snowflake punch and the rhinestones to fit. Give yourself a Christmas gift that will bring you hours of creating pleasure where ever you are. This the ultimate portable stamp studio. Order your copy today!

What to Do!

You are traveling to visit family but your plane has been delayed 3 hours and you are stuck in the airport. You could avoid boredom by counting the number of people who are actually running to catch a plane or…you could whip out your computer and open up the My Digital Studio program and while away the time creating the design of your Christmas cards. Yep…you have procrastinated and now it is crunch time.

What is My Digital Studio you may ask? It is a scrapbook/stamp room contained in your computer's hard drive. Stampin' Up! has developed this software that has hundreds and maybe even thousands of files of card stock, designer paper designs, stamp brushes, punches, and embellishments. Like I say, it is a stamp room par excelence residing on your computer. I created this Christmas postcard last night with no spilled ink, no glitter blowing all over, and no scraps to clean up. It is ready to either send to Stampin' Up!'s professional printing source or to print out at home on my printer. Consider how much fun that 3 hour delay at the airport could be! Click here to order My Digital Studio and let the fun begin!

Happy Holiday Stamping,

Sue
