My Digital Studio – No Retirements

  Retired Card-001

A beautiful thing about My Digital Studio is that things don't retire after a year. In fact, Stampin' Up! is almost weekly bringing retired stamp sets and designer series papers back in digital form. The card above was created using one of the retiring stamp sets, Simple Friendship; retired Almost Amethyst card stock; and retired Garden Wall Designer Series Paper.

Now for those who love hybrid projects or hands on stamping, I am posting about the retirement lists. On June 1st, the Stampin' Up! Last Chance lists came out. These lists are items that Stampin' Up! will not be carrying any longer or are reconfiguring how they will be packaged. The Decor Elements and Accessories items are on an 'as quantity lasts' basis so don't wait to check out the lists here to see the items with a picture of each item by alphabetical order and place your order at my online store so you will know immediately if an item is no longer available. There is also a discounted items list so don't miss this opportunity to snatch them up while they are still available.

A good way to go through these lists is with your catalog in hand. Mark the retiring items in your catalog so you will only have to go through the list once. Click here to get the lists by page number.(The list of stamps is in pretty small print so be sure to enlarge the PDF so you can read it better.) Then you can see if something you had tagged to buy is on the retiring list. One of the items that some of you love and won't be continued are the Craft Keepers, just a heads up for you. Remember, you need to look and purchase now! If you need any help with online ordering, prefer to pay by check, or have questions contact me by email sue@soggystamper.com or give me a call 907-401-0192.

My Digital Studio Monday – Happy Memorial Day

MDS Monday 5-30-11-001 My card today is to thank the service people who have put their lives in danger for our peace and freedom.  I added the new Baker's Twine to the three panels to give them a little texture. The star punches are filled with various designs from the new Nautical Exposition designer series digital paper. One the great things about designing digitally is that you can resize a punch or stamp set like I did with the stars. If you don't have the necessary items to make this card, and don't have a demonstrator already, just click on the item number to order it. If you are ready to order your own copy of My Digital Studio, click here.

Thanks for stopping by to visit today. I hope you took time to browse while you enjoyed a virtual cup of coffee or tea with me.

My Stamping 411 Sample

5-28-11 sketch 5-28-11 card-001

This sketch challenge from Stamping 411 was fun to use. I created this card using My Digital Studio because we are still visiting family in Seattle and I haven't unpacked my stamping supplies that I brought along on our 2 month trip to the 'lower 48'. I chose to use elements from The Open Sea stamp set and the Nautical Expedition Designer Series papers. I really love this combination of the stamp set and the papers. To finish off the card, I added a Baker's Twine bow.

The Oldest Stamp Set – Lovely as a Tree

Lovely as a Tree-001 What is the oldest current stamp set in your collection? Mine has to be Lovely As A Tree which was first released in the 2003-2004 Idea Book and Catalog. This stamp set is well loved by many, many stampers. If you don't have Lovely as a Tree, you can order it here. Since it has been around for so many years, each year I expect it to be on the retirement list so don't wait to order it!

I am traveling for two months and did not bring this set along with me. Therefore I used the digital download of Lovely as a Tree to create this card. I wanted to simulate a watercolor wash on the background so made bands of color using expanded square punches filled with the drop shadow feature of My Digital Studio. I am quite pleased with the results.

I challenge you to pull out one of your oldies but goodies that is still in the Stampin' Up! catalog and make a card with it. Then email it to me and I will post it here.

Let me see those samples,

I'm a little late posting this card because we are traveling and are currently staying in a hotel in Seattle. Thank heavens for My Digital Studio because my stamping supplies are packed in the back of our truck. Yes, I did pack stamps, some ink cubes, paper and embellishments. I couldn't possibly go two months without stamping and will need to make swap cards for convention while we are traveling. To order any of the supplies I used in this card, just click on each item link.

New Downloads Yesterday!

Stitched sb page-001

I haven't used stitching on my cards or scrapbook pages before but I had a great time creating this 8 1/2" x 11" scrapbook page using the new Simple Stitches & Corners download. It is so easy to use. If you decide to buy this download, look for it in your My Digital Studio under embellishments once you have downloaded. I thought it was a stamp set and looked there. I sort of wish it were a stamp set so you had more color choices. As it is, you get Basic Black, Early Espresso, Very Vanilla, and Whisper White stitching. These are nice neutral colors that go well with all colors. Check out the flyer to see all the new downloads. Download MDS_Downloads_-_May_24-1

Photoshop Elements 9 has a feature that crops out all the faces in your photos. As I was browsing through those faces, I realized most of them were people that were important in my life and wanted to create a scrapbook page featuring some of these faces. Hence, this page. It is a really simple page using the stitched circles to mat my photos. I will create a tutorial video on how to get the photos into the circle punches in the next few days so stay tuned.

Thanks for coming by to visit today. To order this new download, just click on the linked item number. Spread the word about my blog, I'll love you for it!

Stepped Up Flap Fold Card

Open Sea Stamp Brush Set_copyrighted-1 I love this image but have not purchased the stamp set yet. What I have done is purchased the Open Sea Stamp Brush Set and the digital Nautical Expedition Designer Series Paper to use with My Digital Studio. I printed out both the stamp brush and the designer series paper on Very Vanilla card stock. I crumpled both the image and the designer series paper then smoothed it out and sponged the wrinkles with Crumb Cake ink. I distressed the edges using the distressing tool in the Cutter Kit. An Early Espresso 3/8" Taffeta ribbon and bow finish off the card. I made this card for my husband's birthday not knowing that he really loves the nautical theme. The card was sure a winner! This is the same dimensions and design as the card I posted earlier. I am reposting the card here so you can see the difference a little details can make.

My Digital Studio Monday – Fit for a Queen

Queen of Hearts-001 Our challenge today was to create a card fit for a queen to honor Queen Victoria. Initially I didn't think I would be able to participate this week because we have been traveling through Canada to spend two months in the 'lower fourty-eight' as we Alaskans call the continental United States. However, thanks to My Digital Studio being a complete stamping room on my computer, I was able to create this card while riding on a ferry to Prince Rupert in British Columbia.

I created my own 'embossed' background paper by stamping the fleur-de-lis stamp from Extreme Elements onto the background filled with Blushing Bride color. I changed the drop shadow to Regal Rose with an opacity of 100% and Blur of 100%. I changed the color of the stamp to Blushing Bride so that just the drop shadow shows up. I created the greeting using the Lucinda Calligraphy font and size 16. If you would like to create this card and need some of the components, just click on the item links to go to my online store and purchase them. You will be able to download them immediately. Just a reminder, there is only about a week left to purchase exclusive National Scrapbooking Month digital download bundles at 30% off! My Digital Studio Monday – Shades of Blue

Shades of Blue 8x8 sb page-001

Our assignment for this week was to create using shades of blue. I love these pictures I took of a hydrangea bush beside our daughter's home in Tacoma, WA, and knew they would be perfect for this project. It is an 8" x 8" scrapbook page. I first opened My Digital Studio and chose Scrapbook > 8×8> design your own. I added a Bashful Blue background. Next I added a photo box and expanded it to leave just a border of Bashful Blue. I inserted my picture and reduced the opacity to 40%. Then I added the three photos with drop shadows. To finish off the page I spelled out 'hydrangea' using the Schoolbook Serif Alphabet stamps going down the side.To order the Schoolbook Serif Alphabet Stamp Brush Set, just click on the link in the recipe below. The link will take you right to my online stamp store.

Tip: stamp your letters along the side. Then use the 'align' tool to center the letters evenly and then the 'space evenly vertical' option in the align tool. While you still have all the letters clicked, group them so you can position them as a group.

Thanks for joining me here today. Do come back over the next couple of days. I have a digital/hybrid card to share that I made for my hubby's birthday.

Happy Stamping,
Sue

MDS Christmas Patchwork_Dorothy_Cordes

From time to time I will share digital cards or scrapbook pages created by other artists. This lovely Christmas card was created by one of my subscribers to News from My Digital Scrap Corner, Dorothy Cordes. She used a variety of designer series papers and the stitching stamp brush to create a quilt. If you would like to have one of your projects you created with My Digital Studio featured on my blog, just send me an email with a copy of your project.

My Digital Studio Monday – Easter Blossoms Card

Easter Blossoms My Digital Studio Card

Welcome to My Digital Studio Monday. I love using My Digital Studio to create quick cards without having to haul out all my supplies. Last week I was in a rush to get little Easter treats in the mail for our grandkids and great-grandkids. I realized at the last minute that I should also send a card to their parents so I printed out this card I shared last week. I trimmed it down and layered it onto Wild Wasabi card stock and then onto a Whisper White card base. I had six cards completed in less than an hour!!! Gotta love My Digital Studio!

Now on to today's card.  I used three Wide Oval punches resized and rotated to fit the egg and colored-filled them with Wild Wasabi color. Then I used two Fun Flowers Shapes #3 punches ovelapped and resized to color the center flower with Regal Rose color. I used a small circle punch filled with Daffodil Delight for the two smaller flowers. I was surprised how adding the drop shadow to the black layer of the egg gives depth throughout the whole egg. I used Cottage Wall Designer Series Paper #8 at 50% opacity to fill a square punch stretched into a rectangle for the DSP layer.

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter. This was the first year of no rain on Easter after several rainy years so we were blessed with a wonderful Easter Sunrise service. 'Course, the sun rises here at about 5:30 am now but we held the service at 7:00 am anyway. Not many people would get up at 5:30 even on Easter.

My Digital Studio Monday – Handpicked for Mom

My Project 3-001 Usually every Tuesday, Stampin' Up! offers new downloads for My Digital Studio. This past week the Handpicked for Mom card template was one of the downloads we could order. I just LOVE the composition of this template! I wanted to share an Easter card, though, not a Mother's Day card at this time. All I had to do was open a 5.5 x 4.25 card, choose Designer Template, choose Handpicked for Mom, click on the greeting and delete it. I clicked on the banner and widened it. (You will get the message that increasing the size will cause pixelation but it will be not really noticeable.) Then I opened the stamp brush set Easter Blossoms and added the Happy Easter to the card. I resized it to fit on the banner and changed the color to white. Voila! The card was finished! Sooooo easy!!! Check out the templates that are offered with My Digital Studio. They can be personalized or used as is. Click on the item numbers to link to my online store to purchase these new downloads.

If you like this project or the other projects I share on my blog, take the time to sign up for my News from My Digital Craft Corner newsletter. The sign-up box is on the right and the process is easy. Each month I will send out an e-newsletter filled with step-by-step projects, tips, a question and answer feature, and sometimes a video showing a technique for you to try.

Happy Stamping,
Sue Erickson
