My Digital Studio Monday – Christmas in August

New MDS card 8-8-11-001

Christmas in August, you say? Well, why not? Thinking about Christmas and it's snowy weather might help you feel a little cooler. Or….you could come visit me in SE Alaska! We are having a beautiful weekend with sun and a high of about 65 or 70 degrees. Right now at 6 pm it is 60 degrees in the shade.

I used the Holly Berry Bouquet Greeting Card Designer Template digital download shown in the Holiday mini catalog for this card. You should be receiving the new Holiday Mini catalog in the mail in a couple of weeks. If you don't  and want one, drop me an email with your address and phone number and I'd be most happy to send you one. Let me tell you…this one is really awesome!!! Well, Stampin' Up! usually has really awesome Holiday Mini Catalogs but you really won't want to miss this one.

My Digital Studio designer template digital downloads make designing so simple. All I did for this card was to add a ribbon and knot and a couple of rhinestones to flower centers. The card is so beautiful by itself that I just may print it out, add a real-life ribbon and rhinestones, and send them for my Christmas cards this year. However, you can change things around in these templates if you want.

Thanks for coming to visit today. If you like this card, please leave a comment, share it with a friend, and sign up for my newsletter. The sign-up box it to the right.

Blessings,

My Digital Studio – Terrific Tuesday

Noteworthy card-001 copy

You may ask why Tuesday is so terrific. The reason is that Stampin' Up! releases exciting new digital downloads for My Digital Studio each Tuesday and today's downloads are truly exciting. I am featuring several new downloads from the last three Tuesdays on this card. From today's download comes the Fancy Fan background stamp brush. This stamp brush is the digital version of the Fancy Fan Letterpress Plate which is a new addition in the 2011-2012 Idea Book and Catalog. I used the new Perfect Label punch which was released last week and the Ruffled Ribbon that was released July 5. I stamped the Fancy Fan in Very Vanilla but the strong color contrast with the background made the background too bold. Changing the opacity of the Very Vanilla to 50% created the effect I desired. The addition of rhinestone embellishments adds just a little bling to the card.

Here are the links to the past few new downloads in case you missed them.

Check out these downloads and then visit my online store to order them. They will work with any program that utilizes layers and either .jpeg or .png files. If you want to have all your downloads in one convenient place within a digital imaging software program, then you will want to order My Digital Studio to install on your computer. Just click on the item number to order a specific element I used in this card.

My Digital Studio Monday – Punch Animals

002
The theme for this week's My Digital Studio Monday post is Punch Animals. Maybe I am being a little lazy for using an animal punch for my card but hey…we want to keep you that are new to My Digital Studio in mind and what could be easier than using an existing punch. Therefore, I focused this card on the Bitty Bat Punch. One of the wonderful things about My Digital Studio is that while the Bitty Bat punch itself is retired, elements in My Digital Studio don't retire. Another great thing about digital punches is that they can be resized however much you desire. I used the retired designer series paper Cast-a-Spell for the top 2/3rds of the card. The greeting is from All Holidays and the jack-o-lantern faces are from the stamp brush set Pumpkin Patch. I used Poppy Parade brads for the bat eyes and put Vintage Overlays over the top with an opacity of 50% to suggest spider webs.

Now is the time for you to jump into digital design!  Order the full program (118108) if you are just beginning digital designing. If you already have a favorite image manipulating program that uses layers and .jpeg or .png files, you can order the My Digital Express (124483) which has less digital content. And as always, you can click on an item number to order it.

Supplies:

My Digital Studio (118108) or My Digital Studio Express (124483)

Stamp Brush Sets: Vintage Overlays Texture 6 (121061)
            All Holidays (118825)
            Pumpkin Patch (118122)

Paper: Basic Black digital card stock
Cast-A-Spell designer series paper Pattern 5 – digital download (118114)

Other: Bitty Bat Punch – digital download (122152)
Grosgrain ribbon – Pumpkin Pie (118851)
            Decorative Punch (123951)
            Poppy Parade brads (118847)

Thanks for coming by to visit today. Now that I am home from our two months in "the lower 48", I will be more faithful in sharing with you on my blogs.

My Digital Studio Monday – I’m in the groove again!

Wow! With stamping cards for swapping at comvention and visiting friends on our travel to convention, I completely spaced out last Monday's post. Convention was a blast and I got so many great ideas to share with you all. We are now traveling home from convention but hopefully I will have time to post frequently.

MDS Monday Delicate Doilies

Here is my card for this Monday. The theme is circles. I have a hard time doing circles but a doily is a circle…right? This digital download, Delicate Doilies, was the perfect solution for my card. I added some of the wonderful new In Colors, Pool Party and Island Indigo by placing small circle punches filled with color behind the doilies. The Island Indigo  was too strong a color for the rest of the composition, so I reduced the opacity of the color in the punches. The addition of Island Indigo 3/8" Ruffled Ribbonadds the perfect final touch. As always, click on the item number of each element to place an order for it through my online store.

Supplies:
My Digital Studio (118108) or My Digital Studio Express (124483)

Stamp Brush Sets: Delicate Doilies (124226)
            Hugs and Wishes (119095)

Other: 3/8" Ruffled Ribbon (127349)
            Basic Pearls and Rhinestones (124330)
            Decorative Label Punch (123951)
Circle Punch – part of Punch Shapes (118853)

Check back in the next few days for tidbits of convention.

Happy Creating,

Sue Erickson

Happy 4th of July from My Digital Studio Monday

MDS Monday 7-4-11-001
Happy 4th of July! I hope the weather in your locale is as beautiful as it is supposed to be here. We are spending the day with our older daughter and son-in-law. My husband requested fried chicken, potato salad, and watermelon…a traditional July 4th meal from his childhood. Our SIL grew up with barbecued chicken so we are going with that along with macaroni salad, potato salad, and watermelon.

One 4th of July, we were visiting friends in Idaho and went with them to the town's fireworks display. These pictures of the fireworks were taken with my I-phone. I am really surprised how well they turned out. I used the My Digital Studio download Land of the Free Stamp Brush Set (126040). I put a square punch filled with Night of Navy behind the field of stars and stretched square punches filled with Cherry Cobbler for the red stripes. Click on the item numbers to order them and create this scrapbook page for yourself.

Supplies:

My Digital Studio (118108)
Land of the Free Stamp Brush Set (126040)
Cherry Cobbler Grosgrain Ribbon (118851) and Knot (118852)
Square Punch (118853)
Marker Felt Font size 40

Thanks for coming by to visit. Come again tomorrow to see the new My Digital Studio downloads for this week.

My Digital Studio Monday – Ahhh! Summertime!

Sand and Surf on Waikiki Beach-001
Don't these pictures just scream summer? They were actually taken a couple years ago on our Hawaiian vacation. I wish I were some of those bathing beauties on Waikiki Beach…LOL! I really enjoy creating with My Digital Studio. It has been a lifesaver for me on our 2 month trip in our 5th wheel trailer. I did bring along hand-stamping supplies but find the computer and the wealth of supplies at my fingertips with My Digital Studio so much easier to use. There is nothing to have to pull out of storage and then put back. On this scrapbook page, I needed/wanted surf boards but didn't already have some in the program. I just zipped over to the Stampin' Up! website, ordered the Summer Splash Stamp Brush Set, downloaded it and was able to play with it in a matter of minutes. It is soooooo convenient!!! If you don't have your own copy of My Digital Studio, what are you waiting for? Click here to order the full program through my online store. If you already have a photoimaging program that uses layers and supports .jpeg and .png files, you can just order the individual downloads you desire. Click here to download a catalog of all the offerings. After you look through the catalog, click here to order your choices. Downloading files is so easy and quick. This is the ultimate in instant gratification so place your order today!!!

My Digital Studio Monday – Happy Father’s Day

MDS Monday 6-20-11-copy
Our theme for this Monday is, of course, Father's Day! Here is a salute to all the fathers out there. Take time to hug your dad .

Our older daughter and her husband love to ride motorcycles so I thought of Joe when I created this card. The designer series paper is the digital version of the retired designer series paper Travel Journal. One of the lovely things about My Digital Studio is that stamps, accessories, and paper does not retire, not even colors. I added Pumpkin Pie Baker's Twine from the new download from last Tuesday of the Baker's Twine Add-On Pack. This download adds the twine in the following colors Baja Breeze, Basic Gray, Crumb Cake, Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, Old Olive, Pear Pizzazz, Pumpkin Pie, and Rich Razzleberry.

If you need any of the downloads I used for this card, just click on the item numbers to order them from my online store.

My Digital Studio Monday Salutes Grandfathers

MDS Monday 6-13-11-001
The theme for Utah Divas International's My Digital Studio Monday is grandfathers this week. Last Christmas we had the pleasure of having four generations of Ericksons/Johnsons together to celebrate. In the photo, the man in the right front is my husband called Grandpa by both grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Our so-in-law is in the back row on the left and is called Pawpaw by his grandchildren.

I used the new Simple Letters Punch digital download and filled the letters with a color picked from the colors in the photo corners that were filled with one of the patterns from the Nautical Expedition digital designer paper. Hint: When you use the color picker to get a color for multiple punches like the letters, save the color in 'favorites'. Then you won't have to worry about picking the exact same color each time.

If your grandfather is still living on this Father's Day, be sure to give him extra hugs, let him know how much you treasure him. Spend time visiting with him about when he was a child and write his memories down. Now that my father has passed away, there are so many questions I wish I had asked him while he was living.

Thanks for coming by to visit today. I offer you a virtual cup of coffee….no…..this is summer and it's probably hot! I offer you a nice cool drink of virtual ice tea or lemonade to sip while you browse my blog.

As usual, if you need any of the supplies I used for this scrapbook page, contact your Stampin' Up! demonstrator or just click on the item number to purchase them from me.

Stamping 411 Sample

Here is the sketch for this weekend                 and here is my version.

6-4-11 sketch         Stamping 411 6-6-11-001

I have my stamping supplies now in our travel trailer but haven't gotten them out yet. Therefore this card is again a digital one. I chose to use the Fabulous Florets set from the Stampin' Up! Summer Mini catalog. I used the corresponding Beyond the Garden Designer Series paper. It is so great that Stampin' Up! works so hard to have paper, card stock, inks, and stamps that all go together so well.

Thanks for coming to visit me today. Have a cool drink of virtual lemonaid while you take some time to browse my blog.

            For All You Do (118836)
