The Day Has Gone to the Dogs!

Doggone-001
Supplies: MDS2+ (130646), MDS2 (130644), MDS2 upgrade (130650), or 30-day FREE trial of MDS2 (130910), Sweet Shoppe Alphabet stamp brush set (122160), Christmas Cocoa II Designer Series Paper – 12 from Christmas Cocoa II Designer Kit (120880), Tasteful Trim Shape 1 punch (123996), Timeless Type Junior Punch (127168), Mis-stitched embellishment (came with MDS2+)

Yep…today has gone to the dogs! It is National Dog Day here in the United States. I, of course, have two furry kids who don't exactly know they are dogs. Little One and Scout have taken the place in our home of our children who have grown up and moved out. I love this picture of our two pups begging for their share of Ron's dinner. Sorry, Ron, that a little more leg shows than you would want. We share our home with two mini dachshunds. Do you have dogs? If so, share in a comment who they are and what breed.

Thanks for coming to visit today. I am doing my best to post every day so come back and check what I have for you each day. As always, to order any supplies you need to create this project yourself, just click on the names in the supply list or visit my online store.

Until next time…blessings,

MDS2 Two ways to color images

Christmas Tags 2012-001  Christmas Tags 2012-009
Supplies: MDS2+ (130646), MDS2 (130644), MDS2 upgrade (130650), or 30-day FREE trial of MDS2 (130910), Bells and Boughs stamp brush set from (Deck the Halls Digital Kit (122176)

On Monday, I shared the first tag that I had colored with the coloring tool in MDS2. I like the effect but wanted to color in the whole stamp, not just the outline. Today I watched a video created by Julie Ann Davidse on layering colors using the brush tool found in the 'freeform' section of the Design Center. The second tag shows the effect of using the freeform brush. With this tool, you do have to stay within the lines but it has an eraser to remove mistakes. Click here to watch Julie's video on www.mydigitalstudio.net. Which tag do you like best? The first one was quicker to color.

Until next time…blessings,
Sue

Terrific Tuesday – From My Heart

This Too Shall Pass copy
Supplies: MDS2+ (130646), MDS2 (130644), MDS2 upgrade (130650), or 30-day FREE trial of MDS2 (130910), From My Heart Stamp Brush Set (131234), Torn Edges Stamp Brush Set (118846), Downtown Grunge Designer Series Paper from the Downtown Grunge Photobook Template (126056)

Welcome to Terrific Tuesday. Why Terrific Tuesday, you ask? Because on Tuesdays, Stampin' Up! releases terrific new downloads for our shopping and creative pleasures! Today is no exception. I must admit I purchased three of the downloads and am considering purchasing another one.

The one that particularly excites me today is From My Heart stamp brush set. I bought the clear mount set just for the saying "They say this too shall pass". I was hoping this would be released in digital form and today is the day! Here is the stamp brush set:

From My Heart imagesI created this frameable wall art for both myself and our daughter. I don't know how many times I have said "this too shall pass" to her and how many times I am sure she thought "yeah…when?" I used both the coloring tool and the freeform color brush to color in the image. I added the Torn Edges borders around the outside as a frame and colored them Gumball Green. To see the rest of the new downloads and place an order, click here. After checking them out, leave a comment as to which is your favorite.

Thanks for coming by to visit today. I appreciate your visits and hope you like what you see. Please enjoy a virtual cup of coffee or tea and browse my other posts.

Until next time…blessings,

Since Stampin' Up! is offering a 31% off professionally printed photobooks, scrapbook pages, cards and tags during the 31 days of August, I thought I might design Christmas tags and get them professionally printed. These tags are 3" square and the price of getting them printed is very reasonable especially with the 31% off. There are only two weeks left in August so get busy! Create something and then send it out for a professional print job through Stampin' Up!'s professional printer. See for yourself what a great job they do!

I love, love, love the new feature MDS2 presents of being able to color stamps. Now, you don't color inside a line image like using a crayon, but you change the color of the lines in the stamped image. You can change the width of the coloring tool to 10 for very fine work and enlarge it to 50 for large brush strokes. A cool thing is that you don't have to stay in the lines, it only colors the lines of the image. If you accidentally color a bordering line the wrong color, all you have to do is go back and color that line with the correct color again. To help with the accuracy, you can enlarge the image as big as you need when working in areas that have a lot of detail. Each of these images are favorite older downloads that I spent hours coloring in the last two years by filling various shapes of punches with the desired color and sending them behind the image.

Have you tried the coloring feature yet? If so, create a card or scrapbook page and email it to me. I'd love to see what you create. If you don't have MDS2 yet, click here to order the 30-day Free trial and give it a whirl. I'm sure you will love it as much as I do!

Thanks for coming to visit today, do come back tomorrow to see what new downloads are offered for MDS2.

Until next time..blessings,

Scallop Square Quilted Anniversary Card

J&C's Anniversary card-001

Supplies: MDS2+ (130646), MDS2 (130644), MDS2 upgrade (130650), or 30-day FREE trial of MDS2 (130910), A Word for You stamp brush set (123958), Berry Blossoms Designer Series Paper (123142), Scallop Square Punch and Modern Label Punch from Punch Shapes (118853), 3/8" Ruffled Ribbon (127349), Basic Pearls (124330)

Welcome to My Digital Craft Corner. As I write this blog post I look out my window onto a waterview and a beautiful evening after a beautiful day with sun and temperatures in the high 60s, a rare day in SE Alaska this summer. We have actually have a week of sunshine and everyone is rejoicing. I guess that is why I created this cheery anniversary card for dear friends of ours.

While visiting them this summer, I tried to explain the benefits of using My Digital Studio to create cards and she wondered what I did with them once I had created them on my computer. I usually just print out the card front and then layer it on colored card stock but this time I printed it out as a card on Whisper White card stock. Here are instructions Stampin' Up! gives for doing your own printing Download MDSPrintaLandscapeCard and Download MDSPrintaPortraitCard. I was not able to get my printer to cooperate so I saved the card front and back as jpegs. Then I opened a new 8 1/2" x 11" portrait scrapbook page, used the Design Center to add the card front and card back jpegs, moved them into position with the card front on the right and the card back on the left, and printed it out. I had to trim some white area off because I couldn't set the margins to 0.0". However…remember that during August, you get 31% off any photobook, scrapbook page, card or tag that you send to Stampin' Up!'s professional printer. Hmmm…note to self…get Christmas tags designed and printed out during this sale!

I used several neat tricks to speed up creation of this card which I will share in a video I'll be posting soon on this blog. So stay tuned for good things to come.

Until next time…blessings,
Sue

His and Her Stampin’ Up! Convention 2012

Convention 2012-001

On our way to convention in Salt Lake City, our blue truck with a gas engine had to work pulling our new 5th-wheel trailer up the Blue Mountains in Oregon. I asked Ron if a diesel engine would have an easier job going up the mountains. That was the beginning! He claims I said "maybe we should consider getting a diesel truck." I don't recollect saying that as I really liked not having a truck payment. Guess what he did while I was at convention? Yep…went truck shopping. The new truck is huge and yes, it does pull the trailer up hills without beaking a sweat. Ron is one happy camper and since we get over 5 mpg better gas mileage, I am pretty happy too.

I just had to create this scrapbook page. This one is a 12 x 12 page but one of the wonders of MDS2 is that you can convert from one size project to another, even to a 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" card with just a click of your mouse. So I changed it to an 8 1/2" x 11" page as well so I could print it out to remember the trip.

A little trick I used with the word 'convention': The letters are punches filled with designer series paper. Initially I placed the C at the left-hand bleed area and the last N at the right-hand bleed area. I had randomly placed the rest of the letter but made sure they were all the same size…1.5 inches. Then I selected them all by clicking on each one while holding down the shift key. Here comes the little secret…I used the 'space evenly horizontally' feature on the Align pulldown menu to space them across the page. While they were all still selected, I grouped them to lock the arrangement. Then I resized the whole group when I decided to add the text above it. I think it is so cool that the program spaced them evenly without changing the randomness! Another cool thing about MDS2 is that you can print out a supply list. This helps immesely when sharing projects online!!!

Freaky Friday

Card 8-17-12-001 copy

Supplies: MDS2+ (130646), MDS2 (130644), MDS2 upgrade (130650), or 30-day FREE trial of MDS2 (130910),Spooky Bingo Bits stamp brush set (127616), A Little of This stamp brush set from A Little of This Tag Template (127585), half-circle punch (127164) filled with Day in the Life designer series paper -2 from the Day in the Life Digital Kit (128876), grass punch (comes with MDS2+) filled with Cottage Wall designer series paper pattern 9 (124560), Wide Oval Punch and Oval Punch from Punch Shapes (118853)

Well at least it isn't Friday the 13th! Actually there really was nothing freaky about today. I had a really good day but wanted the title to suggest this Halloween card. I used a variety of stamps from the Spooky Bingo Bits and really love that we can now enlarge them without losing the quality of the stamps. I enlarged the tree quite a bit. To get the shape of the moon I used the half-circle and Wide Oval punches. To put light behind the eyes of the jackolantern and thingy, I used ovals filled with color behind the images. I love the grass punch and the ability to fill it with designer series paper.

I hope you enjoy this little card. It took much longer to write up this blog post than it did to create the card. Don't forget to sign up for my newsletter in the box in the upper right-hand corner and go to my facebook page and 'like' me. Thanks so much!

Terrific Tuesday – Frightening Feline

Frightening Feline-001 copy

Supplies: MDS2+ (130646), MDS2 (130644), MDS2 upgrade (130650), or 30-day FREE trial of MDS2 (130910), Frightening Feline stamp brush set (131229), Vintage Overlays stamp brush set – 6 (121061), Howlstooth and Scaringbone designer series paper – 7 digital download (129827)(came with MDS2+, or on Haunts and Harvest Digital Collection Disc 129835) , Lots of Tags  – shape 4 punch (124442)

It is another Terrific Tuesday here in The Soggy Stamper part of SE Alaska! Not only is it a beautiful sunny day after almost a week of cloudy, rainy, and damp weather but we also have some wonderful digital downloads for My Digital Studio. When I saw the cute Frightening Feline stamp in the Holiday mini catalog, I thought it would be wonderful to have it as a stamp brush set in My Digital Studio so it could be sized big enough to make framed art for Halloween. Guess what…it is one of the new downloads today. Yay!

Here is the framed art I created. One of the wonderful things about MDS2 is that you can color portions of stamps now. I had a lot of fun coloring some of the words in this cat. You can even color parts to be ombre color as I did with the word 'sneaky' on the cat's shoulders. It helps to enlarge your image while you are doing the coloring and if you accidentally color onto a different part of the image, all you have to do is click on the undo button.

I love the shape of this Lots of Tags shape 4 punch. It is one of the items I got when I downloaded MDS2+. The Howlstooth and Scaringbone designer series paper also came with MDS2+. Now, I must admit that I have purchased lots of downloads since MDS first came out, but even so, I purchased the full MDS2+. Many of the stamp brush sets I already had downloaded are now svg files so they were also upgraded. (Having the stamp brush set be a svg file means you can enlarge it without distortion as I did with the cat.)

Finally I added the Vintage Overlays stamp brush set to the designer series paper to give it an aged look and to give the suggestion of spider webs.

For those of you who prefer traditional stamping with stamps, paper, and ink; this would make a great Halloween card or small piece of framed art. Frightening Feline is a single wood-mount stamp (128105) and you can order the Howlstooth and Scaringbone designer series paper here. Unfortunately, the Lots of Tags shape 4 is a My Digital Studio exclusive punch but you could use one of the Big Shot dies or framelits to achieve the same effect.

I hope you like this project. I am not much of a Halloween person but I am going to print out this one and hang it on my wall. Be sure to click on the item names under supplies if you don't have any of the supplies I used to create this wall art.

Until next time…blessings,

My Digital Studio Monday – Birthday Scrapbook Page

My Project 3-001

Supplies: MDS2+ (130646), MDS2 (130644), MDS2 upgrade (130650), or 30-day FREE trial of MDS2 (130910), Day in the Life designer series paper – 6 from Day in the Life Designer Kit (128876) – also comes with MDS2+, scallop square punch – comes with MDS2

I love the new updates to My Digital Studio. The designers of MDS2 listened to us digital designers and included so many of the features we were desiring. I think my favorite is being able to attach text to a line that can be curved. I love using this feature.

If you already have MDS2, please leave a comment sharing your favorite new feature. If you don't already own it, why not? Give the 30-day FREE trial a whirl. I'm sure you will be ready to purchase the program long before the 30 days are up and I'm here to help you along the way. Just click on one of the links under the photo to get started. My Digital Studio Monday – Send Me Soaring

MDS Monday 8-6-12-002
Supplies: MDS 2+ (130646), MDS 2 upgrade (130650), MDS 2 (130644), or 30-day Free Trial of MDS 2 (130910); Downtown Grunge Photobook Template Designer Series Paper – 4 (126056); Sweet Details Designer Series Paper (125744); Vintage Overlays stamp brush set (121061); Send Me Soaring stamp brush set (129589); Autumn Elements stamp brush set (127172); Creatively Yours stamp brush set (130163); Square punch from Punch Shapes (118853); Tasteful Trim Shape-1 punch (123996)

Whoosh…that is a lot of different items used on this card! The great thing is that all of it is included in the MDS 2+ download. The theme for today's creation is beach or swimming pool. Not having a beach stamp brush set included in MDS 2+ and not having access yet to my other downloaded files, I created this beach card using punches and the Send Me Soaring stamp brush set. I used the Tasteful Trim – 1 punch and stretched it out to make the waves. I filled it with one of the Sweet Details designer series papers for the color and slight texture. The sand effect was created using the wrinkled Downtown Grunge designer series paper and one of the Vintage Overlays stamp brushes. Finally, I used the Creatively Yours stamp brush set for the copyright symbol and added my name. If you need any of the elements I used for this card, just click on the name and you'll be taken to my online store to order it. However, you can get all the above files plus much, much more if you order MDS 2+. :o)

Let me explain the differences between the options for MDS 2. If you already have MDS, you can purchase the MDS 2 upgrade for just $19.95. This will give you the new software and all its wonderful functionality. It won't upgrade your existing stamp brush sets to svg files nor will it add new content. If you purchased MDS between April 16 and Aug 1, you should get an email giving instructions on how to upgrade the program to MDS 2 for FREE!

If you don't already have MDS, purchase MDS 2 for $39.95. This gives you the basic software program and limited content files. OR…you can order MDS 2+ for $79.95 and get it all. Even though I already had MDS, I went ahead and ordered MDS 2+ for $79.95 so my existing stamp brush sets in MDS that are duplicated in MDS 2+ would be upgraded to svg files.

Still on the fence? Then order the FREE 30-day trial of MDS 2. Play with all the wonderful new features for 30-days for free. Then I know you will want to order the whole MDS 2+. You will be hooked! As always, I am here to help you and I am developing a series of videos to show you how to use the program.

MDS 2 sneak peek

Terrific Tuesday-001
Supplies: MDS 2 (download – 130644, disc – 139645) or upgrade to MDS 2 (130650), Modern Label Punch (comes with Punch Shapes – 118853), Bandstand Designer Kit (came with Color Me Creative convention DVD)

I'm still having fun with MDS 2! Today I'm giving you another sneak peek at one of the new features. This one is the ability to color stamps individually. The pennants were all black. By using a coloring tool, I could color each of the pennants a different color. You can even change the size of the coloring tool so coloring the string was easy. The best thing is that you can even color outside the lines!!! As long as you don't color onto another part of the stamp, the color does not appear on the background, just the stamp. Yay! The picture is of me and my Stampin' Up! convention roommates. Left to right: me, Ruthie Burkey, Michelle Montague, Brenda Blum

Aug 1 is coming!!! Oh be patient, my heart!

My Digital Studio Monday – Color Me Creative

MDS Monday 7-23-12-001 copy
Supplies: MDS2 (download available Aug 1) Color Me Creative stamp brush set (from Color Me Creative Convention DVD)

At the Stampin' Up! convention this past week, I took the 'I Am Digital' optional class Wednesday night. In the process of installing a 30-day trial DVD of MDS2 and the Color Me Creative Convention DVD, I lost access to my regular MDS software. So…I had to use the new MDS2 to create this scrapbook page…oh darn!!! :o) I love the Color Me Creative stamp brush set because of the quotes. The big photo is one of the photos used as wallpaper on the big screens in the main stage room. I love the feelings exhibited in those photos. The smaller photos give you a small glimpse of some of the wonderful projects displayed for our inspiration.

I had a wonderful time at convention and would love to have you come with me next year. How can you do that, you ask? By joining my team of Stampin' Up! business owners. If you have been frustrated by having your work hours set for you or by the struggle of balancing work with family responsibilities, owning your own business may be the answer. The feeling of being your own boss and being able to set your own hours and goals is quite powerful and freeing. Contact me so we can discuss how your needs can be met with a Stampin' Up! business.
