My Digital Studio Monday – Stepping It Up

Inspired by Nature card
Supplies: MDS2+ (130646), MDS2 (130644), MDS2 upgrade (130650), or 30-day FREE trial of MDS2 (130910); Inspired by Nature Stamp Brush Set (124473); Textured Stamp Brush Set (comes with MDS and MDS2), Convention 2012 Curvy Frame Punch from Convention 2012 Photobook Template (130971); Timeless Taffeta Trimmings long bow (131329)

Welcome to My Digital Craft Corner this evening. I wanted to show you tonight how much just a little adjustments to a good design will make a project into an outstanding design. The card above is nice enough. I colored the stamp set with the coloring tool which upped the appeal a notch from the sold black image. However, the background of Raspberry Ripple looks a little blank to me. So I added the texture stamp with an opacity of 50% and resized to fit the card. That helped. Then I decided to add a Basic Gray mat to the punch. Now the card looks GREAT!

Inspired by Nature card 2
By adding just two more simple features to the card, I made it stand out. If you need the supplies to create this card yourself, either click on the links or visit my online store to order them.

Thanks for coming by to visit my blog. Come back tomorrow to see what goodies Stampin' Up! brings us on Terrific Tuesday.

Until next time…blessings,

Seasonal Sayings Frameable Art

Seasonal Greetings Wall Art-001 copy
Supplies: MDS2+ (130646), MDS2 (130644), MDS2 upgrade (130650), or 30-day FREE trial of MDS2 (130910); Seasonal Sayings Stamp Brush Set (121217) and Ink Splatters 4 (part of the MDS2 content); Candy Cane Lane Photocard Designer Template (122177) Candy Cane Lane Designer Series Paper pattern 3; 1.25 Square punch (comes with MDS2) and Any Day Punch from Celebrate Any Day Greeting Card Templates (127757); Timeless Taffeta Trimmings – Long Bow (131329)

Today while I was downloading the flyer for the Single Stamp promotion of the Seasonal Sayings Stamp set, it hit me that this would make a great frameable wall art. However, the image you get with a stamp would not be big enough to make good wall art. So….MDS2 to the rescue. I have the Seasonal Sayings stamp brush set in MDS2 and with the new program it is scaleable! Here is the end result of my inspiration.

Since we are living in school housing and will be traveling next year, I don't want to purchase pictures to decorate the walls of the trailer. But…I can create wall art and hang it up for very little expense. I recolored the Timeless Trimmings bow from Basic Grey to Real Red. If I had started with a Whisper White bow, the recolor would have been too light so I chose a dark color to start with. I really liked the color when I recolored with Raspberry Ripple but it was darker than I wanted.

Thank you for coming to visit today. I am trying toincrease the number of 'likes' on my facebook page so if you like my samples, would you please go to https://www.facebook.com/mydigitalcraftcorner and 'like' the page.

Rip Photo Edges Again!

Distressed edge card-001Supplies: MDS2+ (130646), MDS2 (130644), MDS2 upgrade (130650), or 30-day FREE trial of MDS2 (130910); Stamp brush sets – Forever Young (123145) and Elementary Elegance from a Sale-a-Bration CD for the saying; Springtime Vintage Designer Series Paper pattern 6 (122172); Convention 2012 curvy frame punch from the Convention 2012 Photobook Template (130971)

I learned about the new Rip Photo Edge option in MDS2 this week and created this Halloween scrapbook page in this post. Then I got to wondering if I could use that feature to distress the edge of a layer of dsp. I decreased the width of the tear to 30 which resulted in a very subtle irregular edge on the layer. I might have needed to increase it a little more to realy make the distressing more noticeable. However, I do like the end result. The 'Hello' comes from the Elementary Elegance stamp brush set which is on one of the Sale-a-bration CDs. I think it was last year's. I didn't realize it wasn't available online or I would have used a different greeting. Sorry! :o(

If you haven't played with the Rip Photo Edges feature yet, I challenge you to do so and then share with me your creation. I'll share it online with you as a guest artist! Have a great weekend.

Until next time…blessings,

My Digital Studio Monday – Spooky Halloween Scrapbook Page

Ripped paper option sb page-001 copy
Supplies: MDS2+ (130646), MDS2 (130644), MDS2 upgrade (130650), or 30-day FREE trial of MDS2 (130910); Vintage Overlay stamp brush set (121061); Wicked Cool – spooky stamp brush set from Wicked Fun Designer Kit (127609); Spooky Bingo Bits – spider web stamp brush set (127616); 1.25 Square Punch comes with MDS2 and Punch Shapes (118853)

Sorry I have been lax in posting to my blog the last few days. I am back! I learned on www.mydigitalstudio.net that MDS2 now has a Rip Photo Edges feature that is so cool.

You have to add your designer series paper as a page layer or add a photo frame from the Design Center and drag the dsp into the photo frame. If you add it to the photo frame, you can resize the photo frame without possible pixilation of the dsp. When the dsp is added as a page layer, you will get the pixilation warning if you try to enlarge the frame. Whether you add the dsp as a page layer or in a photo frame, double click on the frame and you will find the Rip Photo Edges feature about half-way down. Clicking on this opens a Rip Photo window. You can click on the boxes to select which side to rip…I did all 4…and you can choose the rip width. I used a width of 50. Then I played with changing the dimensions of the square until I got a torn shape I liked. The resulting piece reminded me of the little pieces of paper you tear when you are doing paper machet.

Let's just say that I had a ripping good time creating this scrapbook page. Since I don't dress up for Halloween and since our grandkids don't send pictures of themselves at Halloween, I didn't add a picture. Or maybe I was the incredible invisible woman last Halloween and you just can't see the picture…LOL!

If you haven't ordered the Wicked Fun Digital Kit and the Spooky Bingo Bits stamp brush set yet, just click on their names in the supply list to be taken directly to those items in my demonstrator online store or visit my store by clicking here. I have really gotten a lot of use from these sets and they will never retire!

Thanks for coming by to visit today. Tomorrow is Terrific Tuesday so come back to see what I do with some of the new downloads.

Wicked Cool Halloween Card

Bows-001
Supplies: MDS2+ (130646), MDS2 (130644), MDS2 upgrade (130650), or 30-day FREE trial of MDS2 (130910); Wicked Cool Stamp Brush Set from Wicked Fun Digital Kit (127609); Cast a Spell Designer Series Paper (118114)

I've been busily creating cards and scrapbook pages for you in My Digital Craft Corner today. I ceated this card using the Wicked Cool stamp brush set for you who love, love, love Halloween. I got the white shadow effect on the greeting by adding the stamp twice to my project. One I left black and changed the color of the other to Whisper White. I then offset the two. This card sort of evolved from my original idea. I was going to put the witch's hat on the feet like a little kid was wearing a too big hat. I have still used the feet and the hat but in a much different way. The middle stripe on the card is a punch filled with one of the Cast a Spell Designer Series Papers. If you need any of the supplies I used to create this card, just click on the links or visit my online store.

Why Use Stampin’ Up!’s Professional Printer

Mdsnetbanner_print

Did you know that you can electronically send your MDS2 projects in to a professionals printer whose inks are adjusted to the very same RGB formulas as Stampin' Up!'s inks?

The process is fairly easy. Once you have all the elements exactly as you want them, you go to the Project pulldown menu and then click on 'order'. It will give you the options available to you. If you have created a card, then only the card option comes up. If it is a scrapbook page, you can choose between photobook and single page. With the single page option, you can order in increments of 1 but must have a minimum of 5 pages. Standard single pages are printed on glossy paper that is slightly lighter weight than Whisper White card stock so it can slip into page protectors easily. You can also choose heavy paper for single pages. This paper is a little heavier than Stampin' Up! card stock.

By sending your projects off to Stampin' Up!'s professional printer, you are guaranteed that the colors are true colors. This is a benefit because you can then add ribbons, additional punched elements, and embellishments to your printed project and they will matche what is on the page. Do you like 12 x 12" scrapbook pages but don't have a printer that can print that size paper? Then using the professional printer is your answer. Do you find that your printer can only handle Whisper White paper and sometimes not even that? Then using the professional printer is your answer. Have you taken your projects on a flash drive to one of the quick print places and the color was too greenish or too blue? Then using the professional printer is your answer. So you have created a card for someone and your printer is just not doing the job. For less than the cost of a cheap card in a Hallmark Store, you can get that card printed at Stampin' Up!'s professional printer.

I think you get the picture. For professional results, send in your projects to Stampin' Up!'s professional printer. It takes 2-3 days for the project to be printed and then Stampin' Up!'s normal shipping times. No you can't get instant printing like you can at home but the results are well worth the wait. So give it a try.

Until next time…blessings,
Sue

Terrific Tuesday – Designer Rosettes Birthday Card

Terrific Tues 9-25-12-001 copySupplies: MDS2+ (130646), MDS2 (130644), MDS2 upgrade (130650), or 30-day FREE trial of MDS2 (130910); Designer Rosettes (131525); Antique Brads (122164); Perfectly Penned Stamp Brush Set (130167); Beau Chateau Designer Series Paper (124222)

Welcome to Terrific Tuesday here in My Digital Craft Corner. Stampin' Up! did well with the new downloads they have offered us today. Click here to see them and order the ones you know you will want. They are shown on the right-hand side of the page.

I haven't really been fond of rosettes as I have had a terrible time learning how to make them. Hot glue and I don't get along that well. However, I decided to order the Designer Rosettes digital download. While the color choices are limited, I suspected that the white one would be great for recoloring. I was right! I recolored it with Baja Breeze and was really excited with the resulting color. Then I added the Very Vanilla scalloped edge rosette. It almost looks like it is illuminated. Man…I love, love the combination of the two rosettes! I finished them off with a gold antique brad. The background is Beau Chateau Designer Series Paper pattern 4. The flourishy Perfectly Penned stamp set is the perfect one to use for the greeting.

Playing with Photo Frames

Playing with Photo Frames-001Supplies: MDS2+ (130646), MDS2 (130644), MDS2 upgrade (130650), or 30-day FREE trial of MDS2 (130910); Vintage Overlay Stamp Brush Set (121061), Fabulous Phrases stamp brush set (124586)

Over on www.mydigitalstudio.net, Cindy Shuster posted a scrapbook page where she took the 10+ challenge theme and grouped the 10 frames to add one photo over all the frames. What a cool technique! For this page, I started with a photo only template. I wanted my granddaughter's face to be in one photo frame so I moved the pre-designed frames around, resized one and added two more so I had a center frame. Then I selected all the frames and grouped them. Finally I dragged her photo onto the group. I added a black background to simulate looking through a wrought iron window. I then added the Vintage Overlay – 1 with the color changed to Very Vanilla to simulate frost on the window. I used the color picker to get the color of the title. That is all the embelishment I added as I don't want to take away from the beautiful girl's picture. This was on her 17th birthday. I challenge you to use this feature of MDS2 to add a photo to your page, then share your page with me by email. I'll post it here with you as a guest artist.

Here are the directions again:

  1. Place as many photo frames on your page as desired. Position and size them to their final position, then select all of them and group them.
  2. Find your photo and drag it onto the grouped photo frames. Like magic, the photo will fill the frames.

Yes, it is that easy! Unfortunately you can't resize the photo so if you find you need to resize anything, you will need to ungroup the photo frames.

Until tomorrow…blessings,
Sue

Using Photo Only Templates in MDS2

Welcome to My Digital Craft Corner tonight. I want to share with you a part of the MDS2 program I rarely use. That is the Photo Only Templates. For a beginner scrapbooker, this is a great option. All you have to do is drag in your photos into the photo boxes and add your text. In the sample I created, I added a designer series paper background. This is the template:
Photo only rounded corners-001
Here is the scrapbook page after I added my photos and journaling:

Our New Trailer-001
Supplies: MDS2+ (130646), MDS2 (130644), MDS2 upgrade (130650), or 30-day FREE trial of MDS2 (130910); Travel Journal Designer Kit (121071) Designer series paper pattern 9

When you have a number of photos to fit on one page, this is a great way to go.This is just one template out a whole series of templates that can be combined into a quick photobook.

Downtown Grunge DSP Recolored

Recolored grunge dsp-001Supplies: MDS2+ (130646), MDS2 (130644), MDS2 upgrade (130650), or 30-day FREE trial of MDS2 (130910); Background Card Stock/Midnight Muse; Embellishments Timeless Taffeta Trimmings – ruffle bow whisper white (131329); Stamps Vintage Overlays – texture 1(121061), Artistic Etching – large flourish (124013),Thoughts & Prayers – thinking of you (comes with the software); Punches Convention 2012 – curvy frame from Convention 2012 Photobook Template (130971); Downtown Grunge Designer Kit, designer series paper – 4 (126056)

I love the wrinkled designer series paper from the Downtown Grunge Designer Kit but have wished it came in other colors besides Crumb Cake. Now thanks to MDS2, I can recolor that dsp to my heart's content. Today I gave it a Pacific Point color. Since recoloring has to deal with the original color of the dsp, the outcome will not be exactly the same as a card stock color, but I am very happy with the color I got. I also used the new Timeless Taffeta Trimmings download as an embellishment. Since the file was created for a 12 x 12 scrapbook page, I used a new feature of MDS2 to crop off the ends of the ribbon, a great new feature! The effect of the Vintage Overlay stamp is very subtle as I reduced the opacity to about 15%. I just wanted a hint of "dirt" around the upper left-hand corner rather than heavy stippling.

I hope you like this card and that it inspires you to play with the cropping and recoloring tools of the new MDS2 software. If you haven't made the plunge yet in ordering MDS2, how about dappling your toes in it by ordering the 30-day Free Trial? Just click here to order it and get started. I am always here to help you and there is a wealth of information on www.mydigitalstudio.net.

A Wicked Cool Card on Terrific Tuesday

Wicked Cool CardSupplies: MDS2+ (130646), MDS2 (130644), MDS2 upgrade (130650), or 30-day FREE trial of MDS2 (130910); Wicked Fun Designer Kit (127609), Spook Central Ensemble (127589)
Welcome to Terrific Tuesday here in My Digital Craft Corner. The new downloads can be seen here on the right hand side of the screen. I love using the taffeta ribbon on my traditional cards because it ties into such beautiful bows. I am happy that Timeless Taffeta Trimmings is one of the new downloads. For less than the cost of a roll of taffeta ribbon, you get the digital version of 11 colors of ribbon plus three different ties of each, 50 embellishments in all. And…you don't have to fuss with the bow. It is done perfectly for you each time you use the embellishment. :o)

I did order that download today, but I was in a Halloween card mood so I downloaded a couple of older Halloween downloads, Wicked Fun Designer Kit for the bats and the greeting, and Spooks Central Designer Ensemble for the tree. The grass is the grass punch. To get a really dark green, I copied the punch and filled one with Always Artichoke color and the other with Basic Black with an opacity of 65%. Then I layered them. The moon and the background are a series of punches where I used just the drop shadows. To get the greeting, I cropped the 'have a' and 'halloween' from the 'have a wicked halloween' stamp and then added 'spooky' in between the two lines. I love the new feature in MDS2 that allows us to crop stamps and embellishments now.

Here are the indexes of the two kits I used:

My Digital Studio Monday – Fantabulous You

MDS Monday 9-20-12-001Supplies: MDS2+ (130646), MDS2 (130644), MDS2 upgrade (130650), or 30-day FREE trial of MDS2 (130910); Knots and Ties (131211), Fantabulous You (129920), Day in the Life Digital Kit (128876) Designer Series Paper 9

The other day a question was asked on one of my online groups how to get words printed in a circle using MDS2. It was suggested that perhaps attaching the text to a circular line would work. So….I decided to play around with that and see if I could do it. While my circle is not quite round, I am pleased with the results. Yep…you can write text in a circle! Hmmm….talking in circles am I? I created this card to email to our younger daughter to encourage her. She has a lot on her plate as many mothers with young families do. I felt the Fabulous You stamp brush set expressed my sentiments pretty well. After creating the circular text and the sentiment, I searched through my designer series papers on my computer for one that would make a good background. This one from the Day in the Life Digital Kit works well.

Thanks for coming to visit. If you give creating a circular text a try, email me your sample and I'll be happy to share it on my blog.

Until tomorrow…blessings,

Decorative Overlays – Starburst Again

Starburst card-001Supplies: MDS2+ (130646), MDS2 (130644), MDS2 upgrade (130650), or 30-day FREE trial of MDS2 (130910); Decorative Overlays stamp brush set – starburst (129880), Knots and Ties (131211), Thoughts and Prayers stamp brush set (comes with software program)

Welcome! Yesterday I posted a scrapbook page using the Decorative Overlays as a background for my photos. I was intrigued by the starburst overlay as it reminds me of sun breaking through a layer of clouds. I tried to get that brilliant, dazzling color for the stamp brush but just couldn't achieve the look I wanted. So I chose to use Pixie Pink which I often see in sunrises or sunsets. This overlay has such an appeal to me that I didn't want to clutter it up so I added just a sentiment and a bow. I recolored the bow with Pixie Pink trying all the colors that the Knots and Ties come with as the starting point. Surprisingly, the Pacific Point bow was the one that actually gave me the Pixie Pink color. The rest of them were too light and only the shadowed areas turned decidedly pink. Lesson learned…when using the recoloring function of MDS2, keep trying options until you get as near the result you want as possible! Oh, yes, I tried several different card stock colors for the background and found that Basic Grey gave the best effect.

Have you tried MDS2 yet? If not, what are you waiting for???? Order the 30-day Free Trial of MDS2 and start playing. I am here to help you and I know once you get started, you will be hooked and will want to order the full program. The benefits of digital crafting are

  • No mess to get out or clean up
  • Photos are already on your computer so you don't have to print them out first
  • If you change your mind about a project, you just delete what you have added and add something else….no wasted paper or ink
  • You have accessibility to stamp supplies that are almost limitless without it taking up more space than the footprint of your computer
  • You have printing options. Either print your projects out yourself at home or send them to Stampin' Up!'s professional printer. The professional printer calibrates their inks to be exactly the same RGB values as Stampin' Up!'s ink pads.
  • You can easily be creating beautiful scrapbook pages and cards while traveling and not have to carry along supplies.
