Veteran’s Day 2012

Veteran's Day 2012-001

Welcome to The Soggy Stamper this Veteran's Day 2012. In honor and appreciation of all the veterans and military serving our country, I created this 12 x 12 page scrapbook page using MDS2. I didn't use any special stamps or backgrounds other than the Night of Navy card stock. The flag picture is one I got from the Chicago Tribune photogallery and filled into the 1.25 square punch. The men in the photos are Ron's father Norris Erickson who served in the Army during WW1, his brother Ed Erickson who flew planes for the Marines in WWII, our son-in-law Joseph Johnson who served active duty in the Air Force and now works in the Air National Guard, our grandson Brandon Johnson who is in the Air National Guard, and our grandson Nathaniel Johnson who is on active duty with the Army in Germany.

Our country owes a big debt to all those who have served in our military and continue to do so to protect our freedoms. Grateful thanks to them and their families for their sacrifices.

Thanks for stopping by today. Do come back tomorrow for Terrific Tuesday and see what great downloads, Stampin' Up! has for us.

Until next time…blessings,
Sue

Enjoying Everyting Kit Again

Enjoying Everything scrapbook page

Supplies: MDS2+ (130646), MDS2 (130644), MDS2 upgrade (130650), or 30-day FREE trial of MDS2 (130910); Enjoying Everything Kit (132557); Tasteful Trim Shape 2 Punch (123997); Medium, Small, and Tall Heart Punch from Punch Shapes (118853) also comes with MDS2 and the original MDS software; Basic Pearls and Rhinestones (124330)

In this post, I shared a card I created using the beautiful free download Enjoying Everything Digital Kit. I used the digital kit again to make this scrapbook page featuring our youngest great-granddaughter with the most hilarious face. Her picture makes me smile every time I look at it. I used several of the new features in MDS2. First I used the color picker to recolor the Enjoying Everything Designer Series Paper, embellishments, text, and to fill the Tasteful Trim Shape 2 Punches with colors from the photo. It's wonderful to be able to customize everything to your photo! I also used the ability to attach text to a shaped line with the title.

Thanks for coming by today to visit My Digital Craft Corner. I hope you will grab a cup of coffee or tea and take some time to browse through the project I have shared with you. Versatility of MDS2

Daydream Medallions card-001
Supplies: MDS software, Papers – Card Stock/Real Red, Well Worn Desiger Series Paper – 8 and 10; Embellishments – Blossom Builders Embellishments (129609)/Rhinestones – 2mm Poppy Parade, Timeless Taffeta Trimmings (131329) – large bow real red (re-colored Cherry Cobbler), Basic Pearls and Rhinestones (124330) – rhinestone small (re-colored black); Stamps – Basic Black Texture (came with MDS DVD), Daydream Medallions (130854) – doily 1 and 2, A Cardinal Christmas – merry christmas; PunchesLabels Collection 2, 1.25 Circle Punch, Extra-Large Two Step Bird Punch (122131)

MDS2 is so versatile that you can very often create a digital version of a traditional card that is so realistic that you have to touch it to realize that it is a digital card. Yesterday I posted two cards, one traditional and a copy that was digital. You can see the comparison of the two here. I have so much fun playing with MDS2 and challenging myself to do things digitally that I would do traditionally. If you haven't tried MDS2 yet, what are you waiting for? I know some people love getting their hands inky and sticky with glue and love having a cluttered work space…I know you…because I am one of them.

However, I also love digital crafting because I can leave that messy workspace behind and have everything I need and more right at my fingertips. If I need a particular stamp brush which I don't have, all I have to do is go online to place my order for it. In a few minutes I have downloaded and am ready to use it. I don't have to waith for it to come by mail. When I am finished with a project, there is no cleaning up necessary. Perfect!

So click here to give MDS2 a free 30-day trial. You can order downloads from me during the 30 days and you can send off projects to be printed during this time. If you find you love MDS2, you can then purchase it and all your projects you have created will be transferred over to the purchased program automatically. You just need to be sure to order the purchased program before the 30 days actually end to save the work you have done. Click here to get the free trial. I'm always ready to help you get started.

Until next time…blessings,
Sue

Daydream Medallions Wreath

Daydream Medallions Wreath     Daydream Medallions card-001

I am so excited to share this card I sort of CASEd from Margaret Raburn! The first image is the traditional version of the card. I changed out her card by adding the Oval Accent Bigz diecut and actually cutting out the wreath with the Floral Frames Framelits. I also changed the card base from Whisper White to Cherry Cobbler, my favorite red color.

Then I challenged myself to create the same card using MDS2+. The second image is the digital version. I think I did an excellent job. In the traditional card, I embossed the ovall accents diecut with the Woodgrain embossing folder, punched out the bird and embossed it with the Petals-a-Plenty embossing folder. Then I added a Cherry Cobbler seam binding ribbon. On the digital version, I filled the Labels Collection punch with the woodgrain design from the Well Worn Designer Series Paper. I added the texture stamp on the Cherry Cobbler background to give depth to the card and I used the Timeless Taffeta Trimmings Real Red large bow which I recolored Cherry Cobbler. The traditional card has Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details for the holly berries and I used Blossom Builders Poppy Parade rhinestones for the berries on the digital version. To order the supplies for either of these cards, visit my online store or click on the links in the supply lists.

Procrastinator’s Birthday Card

Jayne's BD card-001
Happy Saturday evening! Why should this be a happy in particular, you ask? First, we get to sleep an additional hour tonight. Daylight Savings ends at 2 a.m. in the morning. Asls, today is National Digital Scrapbooking Day. But most importantly, this is our granddaughter-in-law's birthday. Now, if I weren't such a skilled procrastinator, I would have hand-stamped a card for her and mailed it off the first of the week. However, I didn't find out until Thursday that her birthday is today. What is a procrastinator like me to do??? Well…MDS2 to the rescue! You create a digital card and e-mail it to her or even better, attach it to a Facebook wall post. There…good deed done! However, if you are like me, you don't make it quite that easy. No, no! You decide to use the freeform coloring brush to color in the letters in "Birthday". About 45 minutes later, the card was finally finished. I hope she liked it. MDS2 is perfect for last-minute card makers like me.

Don't forget to download the 3 Free downloads Stampin' Up! is giving us as part of their week-long celebration of National Digital Scrapbooking Day. When we were last told of the total downloads of each of the downloads, we needed 11,700 additional downloads of each to get a 4th free download. I don't know what the totals are now but you have until Nov 5th to take advantage of this offer. If you don't have MDS2 yet, give the Free 30-day trial a whirl by clicking here.

Thanks for coming by to visit me in My Digital Craft Corner. Grab a cup or tea to enjoy while you browse through my projects. If you like what you see, please go to my Facebook page at http://facebook.com/mydigitalcraftcorner and 'like' me. One of the new Free digital downloads for National Digital Scrapbooking Day is Enjoying Everything Kit. I am thrilled with the soft colors of this kit and dainty embellishments! The weather is getting cold and winter storms are about to begin but this kit reminds us that Spring will indeed come again.

The dog got me up at 2:00 a.m. needing to be walked and I couldn't get back to sleep. So I decided to get this card made for today's blog post. I am delighted at how quickly it came together. The background is Wisteria Wonder card stock and I recolored the bow with Wisteria Wonder. All the other elements are part of the kit.

I hope you are enjoying Stampin' Up!'s week-long celebration of National Digital Scrapbooking Day. Check out www.mydigitalstudio.net for the most recent happenings.

Today is the Day!!!

Halloween Party Template-001
Supplies: MDS2+ (130646), MDS2 (130644), MDS2 upgrade (130650), or 30-day FREE trial of MDS2 (130910); Spook Central Designer Ensemble (127589), Bitty Bat punch (122152)

Welcome to The Soggy Stamper blog today. There is a lot going on with Stampin' Up! this week! Oh, boy!

Today is Sell-A-Stamp Spooktacular where ALL SU stamps including the wheels are 15% off except for hostess stamps and stamps that are part of a bundle. For instance, the Ornament Keepsakes stamp set combined with the Holiday Ornaments framelits is not on sale but the stamp set by itself is. This is a one-day-only sale so you must order today to take advantage of the sale. Order through my online store. If you order $150 worth of products through my store you will still get hostess benefits. The prices online have been adjusted just today for the sale price. This is a perfect time to get items on your wish list and to purcase gifts for your stamping friends!

Did you know that you can customize any of the templates in MDS and MDS2? I used the postcard Halloween invitation template from the Spook Central Designer Ensemble as my starting point for the picture at the top of the page. After opening the template, I unlocked all the page elements. Then I deleted the texts on the invitation and added my own text. I felt the words were kind of lost against the background so I added an enlarged square punch filled with Going Gray and an opacity of 50%. Then I moved that layer just behind my text. I also added three bat punches filled with Basic Black. If you haven't given digital crafting a try yet with MDS2, click on the Free 30-day trial in he supply list to order it. You have nothing to lose if you don't like the program but a lot to lose if you don't give it a try. I would love to help you get started enjoying the exciting possibilities of digital crafting.

Until next time…blessings,

Never Compare Wall Art

Never Compare Wall Art-001 copy
Supplies: MDS2+ (130646), MDS2 (130644), MDS2 upgrade (130650), or 30-day FREE trial of MDS2 (130910); Convention 2012 Photobook Template (130971) – frame corner 2, banner, and designer series paper; font – Chalkduster

Welcome to My Digital Craft Corner this Friday. Today I read a blog post by Matt Cheuvront which really connected with me. He ended with the above quote. When we judge how well we are doing something by comparing that with someone else who has more experience and practice, we often get discouraged and give up. I want to keep this quote close at hand so I created this wall art.

I used the Convention 2012 Photobook Template download. You may be thinking you wouldn't use this download because you are not a demonstrator or because you didn't go to convention. But you really 'need' it! Yes, it is a photobook template, but it also has a 71-piece stamp brush set, 8 Designer Series Papers, 3 embellishments, and 3 punches. What a value! I especially like the chalkboard designer series paper I used in this project.

Are you ready? Have you cleared your schedule for October 29? October 29 is National Digital Scrapbooking Day and the beginning of a week-long celebration by Stampim' Up! There will be FREE downloads and all digital kits will be 50% off!

I want to have a big blog post for National Digital Scrapbooking Day so I'd like all my readers to create a scrapbook page or card and email it to me. I'll then feature them over the next week. You have the oppoutunity to be a featured artist here on My Digital Craft Corner so get busy and email me your project.

Until next time…blessings,

Doggone!

Welcome to My Digital Craft Corner today. I have this hybrid card to share with you today. One of my students I tutored last year and his family are moving to Oregon and there was a little farewell party at school for him today. I tried to give the suggestion of the dog moving off the card and turned the greeting into a downward mouth shape to show sadness. The greeting was tped using the Felt Marker font on my laptop. Maybe it is a little corny but I hope he liked it. After printing out the picture, I trimmed it, matted it with a piece of Snow Festival Designer Series Paper, and mounted the whole thing on Whisper White card stock.

Get ready for celebrating National Digital Scrapbooking Day beginning Oct 29 and lasting all week long! All digital kits will be 50% off and there will be free downloads. What a party! If 18,000 free downloads are downloaded, we will get an additional download. Stampin' Up! also is offering a one-day walapaloosa of a sale on Oct 29. All stamp sets excluding digital stamp brush sets, hostess sets, and sets that are a part of a bundle will be 15% off for just Monday! Get your fingers ready to order online or email me or call me!

Holiday List of all Lists-M

Holiday List of all Lists

The Best Year Photobook Template,jpg

The Best Year Photobook Template

Think of how handy the Holiday List of all Lists will be for your holiday planning. There is a list of things to do, an address list, a list for planning your holiday baking, and a list for planning your holiday events and more! Or…order The Best Year Photobook Template and you will be all ready to drop in photos and journaling as you go through the coming year. You could do one for the current year and use the template again for the coming year. It will help you look for those moments you want to preserve.

My card I am sharing today is my entry into the "Neon" challenge on mydigitalstudio.net. Neon colors are really not my thing but after looking at some of the projects others have already shared, I got the idea. The background for this card is the Texture 1 of the Spook Central Designer Ensemble. I used the color tool to color portions of the texture and left others black against the black background. They remind me of fireworks in a way. This goes to show how a Halloween themed designer kit can be used for a variety of other projects throughout the year. That is the mark of a good kit. Most of Stampin' Up!'s digital kits are very versatile.

I love the Timeless Taffeta Trimmings, especially the long bow. I recolored it with Pink Passion, a retired color for traditional stamping but always available in MDS. When you recolor ribbon especially, you need to play with the starting color of ribbon so you get the depth of color you want. If I had used a light pink or white as my starting color, I would have had a light pink. Instead I started with the Real Red long bow.

So that the greeting would pop out, I layered a Basic Black tag on top of a Pink Passion card.

Thanks for coming by to visit today. I hope you have enjoyed this post. Feel free to share it with your friends.

Until next time…blessings,
Sue Erickson
sue@soggystamper.com

P.S. I almost forgot! National Digital Scrapbooking Day is October 29. To celebrate the day, Stampin' Up! will have free downloads and 50% off the digital kits including the Winter Wonders Kit above! This promotion runs October 29-Nov 5. If 18,000 free downloads are downloaded, everyone will get another free download so tell all your friends. This will include those who are giving our 30-day Free trial of MDS2 a whirl.

Sponging with Splatter Tool

Faux Sponging-001
Supplies: MDS2+ (130646), MDS2 (130644), MDS2 upgrade (130650), or 30-day FREE trial of MDS2 (130910); Live Your Dreams Stamp Brush Set from Afternoon Tea II Digital Kit(129928); Thoughts and Prayers Stamp Brush Set (comes with MDS); Fancy Fan Stamp Brush Set (127348); Ink Splatters -6 (a feature of MDS2); Decorative Label Punch (123951); Timeless Taffeta Trimmings -knot recolored (131329)

A few days ago there was a post and sample where the edges of a card were sponged using the splatter tool of MDS2. I was inspired by that card to try it myself. When I applied the splatter, it covered my whole card with big splatters…not what I was looking for. So I reduced the size of the splatter immensely and then cropped just the part I wanted to use. I gave it Concord Grape color and copied and pasted it a couple of times. Then I grouped the three splatters so more of the edges could be covered in one copying and pasting. This was time consuming but what better way to spend a stormy afternoon then playing with MDS2!

The background also gave me fits. Normally I can change the drop shadow to a slightly darker color than the card stock and change the opacity of the actual stamp to 0. This gives the impressions that the card stock has been embossed. For some reason that didn't work this time. So I just changed the opacity to about 30 and I like the results.

I chose the Living Your Dreams stamp brush because it is a good candidate for using the coloring tool. I'm sorry I can't tell you where to order it. I haven't been able to find out with what download it arrived on my computer.

I created this card for a customer who was in a serious car accident this week. I am going to print it out and mail it off to her.

Thanks for coming by to visit me in My Digital Craft Corner. Do come back again soon.

Until next time…blessings,
Sue

After posting this, I got my answer where I got Live Your Dreams. It is part of the Afternoon ea II Digital Kit. I have added the number in the supply list.

Pumpkins Galore!

Pumpkin time-001
Supplies: MDS2+ (130646), MDS2 (130644), MDS2 upgrade (130650), or 30-day FREE trial of MDS2 (130910); ABC Alphabet Lower  stamp brush set (118823); Howlstooth and Scaringbone Designer Series Paper (129827); Grass Punch from Celebrate Any Day Greeting Card Templates (127757); Alphabet Soup Punches (129015)

I love Facebook for the reason I can get photos of our grandkids and great-granddaughters that their parents share on Facebook but don't mail to us. This scrapbook page features our great-granddaughter last year at Halloween time. This page was fun as much fun to create as Lillie had going to the pumpkin farm and carving her pumpkin. The grass is a punch that comes with the Celebrate Any Day Greeting Card Templates download. You may not want that download for the cards (although they are really cute!), but you will love all the individual parts like this punch and the Any Day punch that I use a lot in my creations.

Thanks for stopping by My Digital Craft Corner today. Do stay and enjoy a virtual (or real) cup of tea or coffee and browse through my projects I have shared here. Deborah’s Birthday Card

Deborah's BD Card-001 copy
Supplies: MDS2+ (130646), MDS2 (130644), MDS2 upgrade (130650), or 30-day FREE trial of MDS2 (130910); Perfectly Penned stamp brush set (130167); Textured stamp brush set (comes with the software for MDS2), Fan Fair Designer Series Paper (127200); Get It Done Punch 1 from the Get It Done Kit (129924)

Welcome to My Digital Craft Corner today! I love the Fan Fair Designer Series Paper in the traditional form and am delighted that it is also available digitally. I also love adding designer series papers to punches. I think this punch from the Get It Done Kit is the perfect punch for this particular dsp and, of course, I love layering punches to make frames around the image.

Today is my downline's birthday and like the excellent procrastinator I am, I didn't get a card stamped and mailed to her. MDS2 to the rescue!!!! I created this card and emailed it to her so she would get it on her special day. With MDS2, we don't need to use the commercial e-card companies and our friends and relatives can be sure that a virus isn't accompanying the card.

Have you tried MDS2 yet? Why not? Stampin' Up! offers a 30-day free trial and I am here to help you get started. So go click this link now to sign up for the free trial. You have nothing to lose.

Terrific Tuesday – Fancy Frames

Happy Birthday Katie-001
Supplies: MDS2+ (130646), MDS2 (130644), MDS2 upgrade (130650), or 30-day FREE trial of MDS2 (130910); Everything Eleanor stamp brush set – flourish (130859); Fancy Frames (131330); Everything Easter Ensemble (129363); Petite Pennants Scallop punch (127352); Beautiful Butterfly Shapes – 1 (125512)

Today is Terrific Tuesday because today, Stampin' Up! releases new digital downloads to sauge our hunger for new content. Click here to see today's downloads and place your order for those you want. You will find them on the right-hand side of my demonstrator online store front. I did not order any today because I haven't even shown you some of the ones I got last week. I initially passed on the Fancy Frame download because I didn't like the bold colors of the frames. Then I remembered that now we can recolor them with the new MDS2 update so I got them. I recolored this frame Regal Rose and think this is the perfect frame for our littlest great-grandaughter's picture. I wanted to create a banner with the pennants and attach the title to the top of the banner. I did it a hard way with a lot of fussing and then applied a drop shadow to all the punches on the page. Guess what…I ended up with a drop shadow from the curved line up to where the line would have been if it had been straight! Ugh! Guess what else…they really mean it when the little warning comes up that applying a drop shadow to the whole page can't be undone. :o( I had to group the pennants so their alignment wouldn't be ruined and move them out of the way. Then I deleted the line and the text and started over on that part.

After several times of attaching the text to the line, I decided that the text would always be attached at the beginning of the line and would always have a little tail of line extra at the end. So I made the line invisible by making the opacity 0% and added the drop shadow to the text at this point.

Then I created a new line and colored it Crumb Cake and curved it to match the curve of the pennants. I also learned that you can adjust the curve of the line by pulling down the bottom gray squares and leaving the width the same. This avoids having to double click on the line each time you adjust it. Finally I moved the title line in place adjusting the curve to fit. It was a bit of a hassle but I am quite pleased with the end results.
