Biography

Hi, let me introduce myself. I am Sue Erickson, the owner of The Soggy Stamper and a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator. I celebrated my 20th anniversary as a demonstrator in February 2021 I thrive on teaching classes and holding workshops. My own creativity is a gift from God and I get thrilled when a project takes on a life of its own as this creativity flows. Stamping is my addiction but I also enjoy knitting, gardening, reading and sewing.

The name of my business, The Soggy Stamper, came about due to the temperate rain forest we lived in in SE Alaska. I was busy stamping in my stamp room one stormy day with wind gusts up to 70 mph. The house would give slightly to the gust and then settle back down as the gust ended. As the rain pelted against the window, the inspiration to name my business The Soggy Stamper came to me. My byline in Alaska was ‘Stamping Up a Storm in SE Alaska’. I love plays on words!

My husband, after retiring, found the long winter days of SE Alaska very depressing and wanted to move to a place with more sunshine. So in 2013, we moved to Mount Vernon, WA from SE Alaska. Believe it or not, even though Western Washington gets a lot of rain, the average precipitation is about 30 in/year compared to SE Alaska with an average of 90 in/year.The moveĀ  necessitated a change in my business byline. Since the Pacific Northwest still gets a lot of rain but more sunny days, I chose to make my byline ‘Rain or Shine, It’s Stamping Time’.

We share our home with a mini-dachshund, Little One, and a dachshund/chihuahua male named Blake. Our children are grown and we have many grandchildren and great-grandkids.
